Former F1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi says he cannot wait to make his international sportscar debut for Lotus at this weekend’s 6 Hours of Silverstone. The 32-year-old Italian, currently leading the International Superstars Series championship, will partner regulars Kevin Weeda and James Rossiter at the wheel of Lotus’s No.32 LMP2 car. “I am very happy to get the chance to drive at the 6 Hours of Silverstone,” Liuzzi said

Damian Cudlin will get a second MotoGP opportunity in his home grand prix in Australia – standing in for Hector Barbera at Aspar Ducati. Barbera sustained a fractured collarbone when he crashed early in last weekend’s Motegi race, and has now been ruled out of the Phillip Island event. Cudlin had made his MotoGP debut in Japan after being given a surprise call-up to deputise for the injured Loris Capirossi at Pramac Ducati

Austrian teenager Rene Binder will make his Formula 2 debut on home soil at the Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, next weekend. The 19-year-old joins the series on the back of a second consecutive campaign in German F3 where he currently lies eighth overall, having taken one podium for the Jo Zeller Racing squad. “I’m really excited about racing at the Red Bull Ring,” Binder said.

Ken Block is to get his first taste of Formula 1 machinery later this year when he drives Pirelli’s Toyota test car at Monza in August. The WRC driver, who is famous for his online Gymkhana videos, has tied up with the Italian tyre manufacturer for the run that is scheduled to take place on August 5 – the final day of a three-day test for Pirelli.

Valentino Rossi admitted that he was struggling to make any progress at all at Silverstone after qualifying way back in 13th for the British Grand Prix. Although the Italian was having to learn the circuit having missed last year’s race due to his leg-breaking Mugello accident, he said a lack of track knowledge was far from the biggest issue, as problems on corner entry left him over three seconds off the pace.

Pastor Maldonado accused Lewis Hamilton of being ‘too optimistic’ after the McLaren driver collided with him and ended his race in the closing stages of the Monaco Grand Prix. Williams rookie Pastor Maldonado is eyeing his first points finish in Formula 1 after securing eighth on the grid for the Monaco Grand Prix.
