Suranovich pulls out of F3 Silverstone

Fortec Motorsport’s Formula 3 European Championship line-up is down to three cars for this weekend’s Silverstone round after Dmitry Suranovich decided not to compete. The Belarus-born ex-GP3 graduate took a best finish of 17th in the opening round at Monza, and his decision to skip Silverstone – due to what have been cited as back problems – came late in the day.

Porsche drive for Frentzen

Injured Wilson to miss Sweden

Matthew Wilson has been ruled out of Rally Sweden after breaking his left ankle in a fall while training on Saturday. The Briton fell awkwardly during a run in England’s Lake District and was taken to hospital. “It looks as though I’ve broken and dislocated my left ankle so, unfortunately, that means no Rally Sweden for me,” said Wilson, who had started the season with a tough run to 11th in Monte Carlo

Q and A: Ford boss on Hirvonen’s crash

Donington gets new deadline extension

Donington boss Simon Gillett says he remains fully committed to having the circuit ready in time to host next year’s British Grand Prix, after being granted a further extension to his deadline. After several deadline extensions, Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone had given Donington until the end of this week to prove that it had the finance in place to complete the works needed to host next year’s race.

Wilson wants Solberg in two rallies

Ford World Rally Team director Malcolm Wilson wants Petter Solberg in one of his cars for the last two rounds of this year’s World Rally Championship. Nine years after Solberg walked out on Wilson and the Ford squad bound for the Subaru World Rally Team, the Cumbrian has admitted he would like to see him back in a Focus RS WRC – despite stating at the time that the Norwegian would not be asked back. It was Wilson who gave Solberg his first professional drive in 1999
