I was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1988 and moved to Midland, Michigan when I was two years old. I stayed there until third grade when I moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan and now I currently live in Naperville, IL where I'm attending Metea Valley High School as a 9th grader. In the past, I have participated in soccer and this year I plan on joining swimming or water polo. My family includes my 15 year old sister, a 7 year old sister and my mom and dad. I have been writing since 6th grade and have participated in many writing contests in my school and have received several awards for writing.
My fascination for motorsports began when I was nine. The first NASCAR race I watched on TV was the 2009 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, won by Kasey Kahne. My favorite NASCAR drivers are Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmie Johnson. I have watched all the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2010. I currently have three wins on iRacing, two of them in the Nationwide car at Daytona and one in the Street stocks at Charlotte. My favorite car and type of track on iRacing is the Nationwide Series (B Class) car and superspeedways.

I've always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I've won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.

Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I have always had a serious passion for cars and motorsports. Hoping one day to become an automotive journalist for a magazine, I constantly crave the exciting competition that comes along with racing and sim-racing. Having participated in a mere test session in a Legends car at Old Dominion Speedway, I have not been able to get into any real-life competition . . . yet.

As a sim racer, my interests date back to "GTR Evolution." My goal is to have fun and win some races. I made it to Oval Pro in 2010, but did not become very successful. I enjoy any mixed road racing competition and love racing the Silverados around almost any track.

Born and raised in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area, Scott Kelly has had a love for motorsports ever since his father did the right thing by introducing auto racing into his life. No longer able to quench his need for speed by spectating NASCAR races on TV and watching dirt track stars slide around local tracks, Kelly eventually picked-up sim racing in his teens, wheeling cars found in Ratbag Games' "Dirt Track Racing" and "World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars" while also becoming introduced into multiple Papyrus sim-racing series. Joining the iRacing ranks in late 2011, Kelly set his sights on the short track racing he was familiar with, focusing on the sprint car, while also driving the Legends and street stock in multiple iRacing.com leagues.

Kelly brings not just his enthusiasm for racing to the highest-rated motorsports simulation, but also his B.A. degree in English; he covers the action seen in the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, while also placing the spotlight on various leagues within the service. Enjoying his start to a career in motorsports journalism, Kelly also doesn't mind visiting victory lane from time-to-time.

I was born in Florence, South Carolina in 1989 and have lived here my entire life. I've been around racing since I was a young kid watching with my dad on Sundays. In 2009 and found my local track, Florence Motor Speedway and started working for them as a PR guy the same year. At the end of that season, I started writing for RACE22.com, a Late Model Stock Car news site. In 2010, I picked up my first DSLR camera and started shooting races. To this day, I've experienced some of the best races from behind the camera.

I've been with the iRacing service since its public beta in 2008, back when the top oval car was the Late Model. I've been in over 500 races on the service with 70+ wins on both oval and road. My favorite car on the service is the Chevrolet Silverado. Darlington Raceway and Concord Speedway are my favorite tracks simply because everybody hates them.

Alfalla Finds Victory Lane at Pocono

by Jason Lofing on June 12th, 2013

Alfalla got the best of Ottinger at Pocono to score his first win of the season.

It took eight races and a lucky break, but Ray Alfalla is finally back in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship victory lane. Alfalla survived the early carnage and took advantage of a huge mistake by Nick Ottinger with 11 laps to go en route to his win at Pocono Raceway. It looked as if Ottinger had sealed-up the win when he passed Alfalla with 20 laps remaining, but Alfalla tried his best to keep the pressure on. With 11 laps to go, Ottinger pushed it a little too hard and slid into the wall on the exit of Turn Three, allowing Alfalla to retake the lead. Ottinger quickly tried to close back in, but a yellow flag would trap him in second position and set up a three lap [...]

Lukaszka is Dover’s “Top Monster”

by Tom Moustakas on June 10th, 2013

Close-quarters racing + Dover's challenging racing surface often equals sheet-metal damage.

Week Five brought the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (fixed setup)  to the first state in the Union and Dover International Speedway.  With its unique combination of concrete surface and steep banking, it’s no wonder the track has earned the nickname “The Monster Mile.” Qualifying: For the second week in a row, Pro-licensed drivers topped the qualifying charts in the NiCAS (fixed setup). NiSWC competitor Brian Schoenburg (California) wheeled his Gen6 car to a 22.796 second lap around the concrete mile. New Pro driver Brian Day (Mid-South) was second best with a 22.808s lap, and NiSWC driver Danny Hansen was third at 22.809s. Kevin King (California) was fourth best at 22.820s and Matt Bussa (Illinois) was fifth at 22.833s. High SOF Race: The top SOF race of the week happened [...]

Brown Comes up Clutch in First NiSWC Victory

by Jason Lofing on May 29th, 2013

Brown outdueled Lindsey to score a dramatic win at Charlotte.

Heading into Week Seven of the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship season Joey Brown found himself outside the top 25 in points despite some promising runs. The NiSWC rookie had shown flashes of brilliance through the first six races, but had his good runs undone by mistakes largely of his own making. That all changed at Charlotte Motor Speedway as Brown broke through for his first NiSWC victory, outdueling Marcus Lindsey in a fantastic battle for the win. Brown, who started from the pole but lost ground to Lindsey during the first round of green flag pit stops, erased more than a two second gap during the second half of the race. With ten laps to go, Brown was right on Lindsey’s bumper and made a move for the [...]

Racing always has and always will be a numbers game.  Lap times and speeds, points races and championships, chassis set-ups, engine settings, gear ratios, margin of victory . . . you name it, if it counts in racing, there’s a number attached to it. And when it comes to racing, no number matters more than One.  Whether it’s a 24 hour race or short sprint, a qualifying or practice session, the whole point of the exercise is to be Number One. With 154 wins in 868 starts on iRacing, Halifax Nova Scotia’s Dylan Duval is certainly no stranger to Number One.  But he earned a unique first in 2013 Season One when he took ten wins from 30 starts to finish Numero Uno in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series [...]

Banshee Autosport Dominates ISOWC Round 4

by Jonathan Goke on March 27th, 2013

"Judson stalks the leading Goke with less than four laps to go in the ISOWC Pocono 400.

Round 4 of the International Simulated Open Wheel Championship saw 27 Dallara IndyCars try to tame the tricky triangle known as Pocono Raceway for 160 laps . . .400 miles of racing.  After Round 3, Thomas A Klopp held a 10 point advantage over Thomas Sturm, with Jussi Nieminen a total of 25 points back in third.  One of Banshee Autosport’s newest additions, Martin Miller would grab the pole for Sunday’s event with a time of 41.155.  Thomas Sturm lined-up second, followed by Jonathan Goke, Jon Porzuc and Dave Judson, with Banshee grabbing 4 of the top five starting positions. Miller would lead the first 4 laps and then give way to Banshee teammate Jonathan Goke, who paced the field until the first caution of the day flew on Lap [...]

Taming the Tricky Triangle

Duval came out on top of Pocono's big SoF race.

Week Two of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series headed to the “Tricky Triangle” in Long Pond, PA.  Drivers would have to tame Pocono Raceway’s three completely different corners to be successful and hope to find their way to Victory Lane following 50 laps of racing around the 2.5 mile tri-oval.  In total, 571 sim racers took the green flag to complete an official race for the week while 134 drivers turned a qualifying lap. The weekly Friday night Strength of Field race saw Dylan Duval pick-up his first win of the season against 28 other sim-racers in a 5140-rated field.  Last week’s winner Justin Thompson experienced problems during the event and finished a dismal 25th.  Defending series champion Brandon Jerrell also experienced problems and finished 22nd.   Six yellow flags [...]

New Season, New Hopes

by Chris Owens on February 7th, 2013

Thompson (20) makes the winning move on Luza (2) in the season opener at Homestead.

A new year means a new season for the stars and cars of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series.  With a new season comes new hope of a championship for every sim-racer that gets behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Impala Class B car.  While some new faces made the trip to the Homestead-Miami Speedway in south Florida, it was a fairly familiar name that looked to take the series by storm. Nearly 750 sim-racers took to the track during the first week of the season.  The mile and a half speedway is unlike any “cookie cutter” track on the circuit.  With its multi-banked corners, drivers can choose to run the low line, the middle or up by the wall, making Homestead a track with multiple means of passing. Get to Know: Blaze Carlson

Carlson

Have you ever heard the saying “the facts don’t lie?” Well in this case, they kind of do. The driver I interviewed for this week may not have the best iRating, and he may not be a Pro or Class A driver, but he is always a threat for the win, every time he is on the track. He is also the co-owner of his very own racing team on iRacing which was founded three months ago. The driver I interviewed for this week is Blaze Carlson. Blaze Carlson has accomplished a great deal on iRacing and at a young age. The 16 year old, living in Marshalltown, Iowa, has started over 700 oval races and 20 road races since joining the service in June of 2010. He has scored [...]

Week Six marks the halfway point in Season Four as the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (open setup) heads to arguably the most unique venue on the NASCAR circuit in Pocono Raceway. This very unique track which features three distinctly different turns each varying in banking from 14 degrees all the way down to six degrees in Turn Three which can produce some very exciting racing. 800-plus sim racers wanted their chance to claim victory in the week’s high Strength of Field, but as with most things, there can only be one number one. NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship competitor Chad Coleman (Georgia) showed his fellow competitors in the 3316 SoF how to win and how to do it in dominating fashion. Coleman took the checkered flag first after leading [...]

Alfalla Tricks The Triangle

by Jordan Hightower on December 12th, 2012

Kyle Larson (18), Dylan Duval (4), Ray Alfalla (1), Ryan Luza (3), Kevin King (2) fan out along Pocono's long front straight.

When it comes to NASCAR racing, there isn’t a track on the circuit more unique than Pocono Raceway. Its nickname of The Tricky Triangle suits the raceway perfectly. The 2.5-mile track features three turns all varying in length, banking, and difficulty, making this truly a one-of-a-kind racing venue. Although this is one of the more difficult tracks within the iRacing.com service, it did not scare away potential winners as close to 1,400 sim racers vied for that all important Strength of Field win in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (fixed setup) during Week Six. A name that is no stranger to victory lane in online racing once again visited that all too familiar place in this week’s 4655 high Strength of Field. Two-time NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship champion [...]

Nearly 1,200 sim racers made the tow to Atlanta for Week Five of the NiCCS (open setup), Here Spencer McCabe (14) leads Bob Howard (2), Greg Venable (8) and friends.

Nearly 1,200 sim racers attempted to lay claim to Atlanta Motor Speedway during Week Five of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (open setup), but only one could claim he was the best of the best after seven days of intense online racing. The week’s highest Strength of Field took place on November 26th and involved 18 virtual Silverados battling for the top spot. The 3491 SoF was won by Michael Taylor (Carolina) who only led nine laps, but was in front of Ian Faltenhine (Eastern Canada) by 0.644 seconds on the 90th and final circuit of the 1.5 mile oval. Jeremy Bivins (Mid-South) finished in the third position 1.396 seconds behind the race winner while Mike Burnell (Midwest) brought his truck home in the fourth and filling out the [...]

Blackford (l) bested Sheehan in the top SoF race at Atlanta.

Atlanta Motor Speedway played host to the fifth week of online racing in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (fixed setup) and what a turnout of eager sim racers it had. Over 1,500 iRacers attempted to take home the hardware, but it was a familiar face to not only this series, but to the entire iRacing.com service who did just that. With so many online racers competing in at least one race during the week, earning the victory in the high Strength of Field was a difficult task, but the 5017 SoF proved to be no struggle for NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship competitor Bryan Blackford (Florida). Justin Brooks (Carolina) finished a very close second to Blackford, just 0.211 seconds behind. The NiSWC is once again represented in the top [...]

iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations

Week Four in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (NiCAS) reminded many competitors of how much of a love-hate relationship Pocono Raceway can be. Best described as a total oddity, the 2.5 mile circuit located in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania features three vastly different corners that provide headaches for not only drivers, but crew chiefs as well. That combined with the longest straightaway in NASCAR, where speeds will top 210mph, Pocono is always circled on the NiCAS calendar. While some drivers steer clear from the challenge presented by the Tricky Triangle, others wrap their arms around it with relative ease. The top rated race of the week was settled on Sunday night, with a unique mix of veterans, and relative newcomers to the big stage, all within the [...]

Hansen’s Pocono Upset

Hansen led ? laps at Pocono en route to his firsy NiPS win.

Danny Hansen scored his first career NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series victory at Pocono Raceway, using some clutch driving to hold-off Josh Berry and Jared Crawford over the final 16 lap run to the checkers. Hansen took the lead on Lap 50 through pit strategy and needed some yellow flag laps in order to make it on fuel. Two quick yellows enabled Hansen to save more than enough fuel to make it to the finish. Along with his win, Hansen picked-up the bonus point for leading the most laps after pacing the field for 30 tours of the Tricky Triangle, one more than Crawford. “Well what can I say, winning that race was pretty dang cool,” said Hansen after his victory. “It’s just really, really cool to see my hard work [...]

The NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (NiCAS) made the trip down south to Homestead Miami Speedway for Week Three of Season Four. Unlike our physical world counterparts in the Sprint Sup Series, the NiCAS has no championship drama as of yet, allowing drivers to focus on the racing, and more importantly, winning. Although Homestead fits the description of the seemingly common mile and a half speedway, HMS has character all its own. From the very line sensitive turns one and two, to the wide arcing, high speed turns three and four, Homestead Miami Speedway will never fall under the dreaded “Cookie-Cutter” description. Seat time is always big when the NiCAS heads to a unique track such as HMS, and that became apparent by glancing at the weekly standings. NASCAR iRacing.com [...]

Tricky Triangle Child’s Play for Traino

by Jeff Yeager on October 15th, 2012

Traino was in the pink at Pocono, taking a pair of IndyCar wins.

The tricky triangle better known as Pocono Raceway hasn’t seen the real Indy Cars race there since 1989, though it will be re-introduced to the IZOD Indycar schedule in 2013.  With its unique design, each turn is modeled after turns at three different tracks.  Turn One has 14 degrees of banking and was modeled after the now defunct Trenton Speedway.  Turn Two (also known as “The Tunnel Turn) is like The Indianapolis Motor Speedway having 9 degrees of banking, while Turn Three having six degrees of banking is similar to The Milwaukee Mile. For Week 13 the track played host to the iRacing Dallara Series where the track was dominated by one sim-racer: Brandon Traino overpowered the competition by winning both of the strength of field races. The Monday race [...]

Off and running! The NiCAS (Fixed) debuted with nearly 600 sim-racers taking to Pocono Raceway.

The inaugural season of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (Fixed Setup) headed to the Pocono Mountains for 2012 Season 3 Week 1. The iRacing drivers brought their talents to the Tricky Triangle (aka Pocono Raceway), a race track that demands patience, driving ability, and the ability to stay focused for long periods of time. There were 585 sim-racers who competed at least once at the Tricky Triangle. A total of three drivers took the green flag more than 10 times, with Mike Shelton claiming top honors by racking-up 14 starts. In the wins column, Dylan Duval takes home the title with a whopping six wins out of 11 starts. Duval also had the most laps led with 227, which tops the mark of the next highest competitor — Brian [...]
