Australia qualifying quotes: Williams
March 17th, 2013
Valtteri Bottas – 16th: “It wasn’t the easiest qualifying session to start my Formula 1 career. It was good to get through Q1 yesterday but the conditions were tricky again today as it was getting drier all the time.
Ferrari confidence boosted by practice
November 23rd, 2012
Ferrari can head into the Brazilian Grand Prix with a level of confidence about its chances of fighting Red Bull wheel-to-wheel after an encouraging opening day of practice, reckons Felipe Massa. Although Lewis Hamilton topped the times in both practice sessions, Ferrari was boosted by the fact that Massa produced the best long-run form of the day. That result, allied to the fact Massa made a mistake on his fastest lap so could go even quicker over a single lap, has left the Brazilian upbeat about the potential for the season finale
Ferrari ‘must focus on itself in finale’
November 20th, 2012
Ferrari’s only focus in Brazil will be on doing the best job it can, without thinking of worst-case scenarios for Sebastian Vettel, says team boss Stefano Domenicali. Red Bull driver Vettel goes into this weekend’s finale with a 13-point advantage over Fernando Alonso after they finished second and third in the United States Grand Prix on Sunday. The Spaniard would be champion if he wins the race and Vettel finishes outside the top four, if he is second and Vettel is outside the top seven, or if Alonso is third and Vettel finishes 10th or lower.
Webber not writing off Ferrari
February 24th, 2012
Mark Webber thinks it would be wrong to write off Ferrari’s chances of starting the Formula 1 season strongly, with the early form guide pointing towards Red Bull and McLaren as favourites. Although Ferrari has failed to shine in the first two pre-season tests, Webber knows that winter running can potentially count for nothing at the first race – especially since the team has a driver like Fernando Alonso on board. “As long as Fernando has a steering wheel in his hand he is always there,” said Webber.
Vettel thrilled with ‘tough’ pole
October 8th, 2011
Sebastian Vettel described his 12th pole position of the 2011 season as his toughest of the year so far, saying he was delighted to deliver the result despite a tough build-up at Suzuka. Vettel had a minor accident in Friday morning practice that cost him a lot of track time, and had then been concerned that he could not match pacesetter Jenson Button’s McLaren in the remaining sessions. But in qualifying he managed to find more pace and edged out Button by 0.009 seconds
Kanaan delighted with run to third
September 4th, 2011
Tony Kanaan answered his frightening warm-up accident with a superb drive from the back of the field to third at Baltimore. Kanaan had been launched into a huge airborne crash after suffering brake failure in warm-up, but was able to take KV Racing team-mate EJ Viso’s spare car for the race
Japan qualifying quotes: Red Bull
October 10th, 2010
Sebastian Vettel – 1st: “Friday was a good day for us and after yesterday, with the horrible conditions, we didn’t know what to expect today.
Hamilton: Strong result still possible
October 9th, 2010
Lewis Hamilton believes he can still score a good result at the Japanese Grand Prix, despite a severe lack of running.
Japan Saturday quotes: Ferrari
October 3rd, 2009
Giancarlo Fisichella – 16th: “I am very disappointed not to have made it through to Q2. We only had this morning’s free practice to prepare the car in the dry, but I think all the same, I improved my performance level, growing ever more confident in the F60.
Raikkonen welcomes fourth row place
October 3rd, 2009
Kimi Raikkonen said he had extracted the maximum from his Ferrari in order to qualify in eighth position for the Japanese Grand prix. “I don’t think we could have expected much more today,” said Raikkonen, who admitted there is not much Ferrari can do considering the lack of development.
