January 9th, 2013
Jarkko Nikara will return to the World Rally Championship on next month’s Rally Sweden. The Finn, who finished fifth on his debut in a World Rally Car in Spain , will aim to improve on that result when he returns to a Prodrive-built Mini John Cooper Works WRC in Karlstad
Peerless Loeb storms away on asphalt
November 10th, 2012
Sebastien Loeb stormed away from the field on the second afternoon of the Rally of Spain. The world champion extended his advantage over nearest pursuer Jari-Matti Latvala from 18.9 to 27 through Saturday’s second loop. Ford driver Latvala had tried his utmost to stay in touch with Loeb’s Citroen, but had to concede defeat and admit that the Frenchman – in his last event as a full-time World Rally driver – was still a class apart on asphalt
Ostberg leads after morning downpours
November 9th, 2012
Mads Ostberg holds a shock Rally of Spain lead after Friday morning downpours shook up the order in the World Rally Championship finale. Increasingly hard rain and saturated stage conditions meant those further down the running order – including all the regular lead combatants – struggled with standing water and aquaplaning. Sixth and seventh on the road, Ostberg and Ott Tanak enjoyed slightly better weather on SS2 in particular, where they surged to the front of the field.

Jarkko Nikara will join Dani Sordo in the Prodrive Mini line-up for next month’s World Rally Championship season finale in Catalunya. Nikara has long been viewed as one of the quickest young drivers in Finland , and was part of the inaugural Pirelli Star Driver scheme in 2009
Loeb leads into final day

Loeb hangs on to New Zealand lead
June 22nd, 2012
Sebastien Loeb continues to lead Rally New Zealand halfway through leg two, but cannot shake off Citroen team-mate Mikko Hirvonen. On Saturday’s first two stages it looked like Loeb would quickly put the rally beyond Hirvonen’s reach, as the reigning World Rally champion rapidly established an eight-second lead. But on the muddy surface of SS11, the distinctively named Girls High School, Hirvonen was able to carve back into Loeb’s lead and get the gap down to 1.7s heading for service
Sordo surprised to get Ford drive
April 26th, 2012
Ford driver Dani Sordo has admitted he was amazed to get the call to drive a Fiesta RS WRC on this week’s Rally Argentina. Sordo is standing in for the injured Jari-Matti Latvala and has made the perfect start to his Ford debut, fastest of the Fiestas on the qualifying stage. Talking to AUTOSPORT, Sordo pointed out the risk he felt Ford World Rally Team director Malcolm Wilson had taken when he picked up the phone to the Prodrive Mini driver
Salazar faces challenging WRC debut
April 17th, 2012
Former Formula 1 racer Eliseo Salazar will face a baptism of fire when he starts next week’s Rally Argentina, according to Prodrive chief Richard Taylor, but is sure the Chilean is up to the task. The Villa Carlos Paz-based event will be Salazar’s first World Rally Championship outing in a Prodrive-run Mini John Cooper works WRC and Taylor says the season’s longest and toughest round could suit the 57-year-old veteran’s street given his recent experience in cross-country rallying. “There’s no doubt Rally Argentina is going to be a massively tough event,” said Taylor
Hirvonen leads into final day
March 31st, 2012
Mikko Hirvonen continues to lead the Rally of Portugal at the end of day two, as Petter Solberg grabbed the headlines with his charge up the order. It took just two stages of Saturday afternoon’s loop for Solberg (Ford) to achieve his target of jumping from ninth to fourth place – albeit assisted by Patrik Sandell crashing his Prodrive Mini out of fourth on Almodovar 2. But having reached fourth, Solberg then hit a new problem as power steering failure left him struggling through the leg-ending Loule stage, dropping him back to fifth again, behind Nasser Al-Attiyah’s Qatar Citroen
Hirvonen consolidates Portugal lead
March 31st, 2012
Mikko Hirvonen continues to lead the Rally of Portugal for Citroen, despite Mads Ostberg’s best efforts to catch him.
Hirvonen leads amid Portugal carnage
March 30th, 2012
Mikko Hirvonen leads the Rally of Portugal by 36.3 seconds over Evgeny Novikov after a bizarre first loop of Friday stages. Thick fog, heavy rain and very muddy stages led to carnage throughout the leaderboard – headlined by Ford team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala and Petter Solberg crashing out of the lead on consecutive stages. The duo had started the day first and second, and looking good to turn the team’s title bid around following Sebastien Loeb’s Thursday night crash
Latvala crashes out of lead
