Pirelli hits out at Red Bull criticism
June 11th, 2013
Pirelli has hit out at Red Bull for again criticising its tyres on the back of a dominant performance from Sebastian Vettel in the Canadian Grand Prix. Vettel took a lights-to-flag victory in Montreal as low tyre degradation meant he could push harder and unleash the full potential of his RB9. However, after celebrating a win that extended his championship lead over Fernando Alonso to 36 points, Vettel was still critical of Pirelli’s tyres, suggesting that he has concerns about their safety.
Lotus sure Canada struggle a one-off
June 11th, 2013
Lotus is convinced it will be back on the pace at the British Grand Prix after blaming its struggles in the Canadian Grand Prix on track characteristics. Kimi Raikkonen was lapped by title rival Sebastian Vettel on Sunday, on a weekend when he never appeared to have the pace to fight for victory and finished ninth . But despite the deficit in performance seen in Montreal, team principal Eric Boullier thinks the situation will be dramatically different at Silverstone because that track will suit the Lotus much better.
Only victory will suffice for Hamilton
June 10th, 2013
Lewis Hamilton says he will not be happy until he takes his first victory for Mercedes. The Briton was in a downbeat mood throughout the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, and appeared far from overjoyed at taking his third podium of the season following a tough fight with Fernando Alonso.
Ferrari sure it could have fought Vettel
June 10th, 2013
Ferrari believes Red Bull’s dominance in the Canadian Grand Prix was flattered by the fact that Fernando Alonso started too far down the grid to threaten him. Sebastian Vettel was in a class of his own in Montreal, pulling immediately clear from pole position and racing away unchallenged. But Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali thinks the race “would have been a totally different picture” if Alonso had qualified near the front
Bottas says race slump inevitable
June 10th, 2013
Valtteri Bottas believes there was nothing he could have done differently in the Canadian Grand Prix and that falling back from third to 14th was inevitable.
Red Bull: Vettel still getting stronger
June 10th, 2013
Sebastian Vettel’s victory in the Canadian Grand Prix showed that he is still improving as a driver, according to his Red Bull boss Christian Horner. The triple world champion took his third win of the season in Montreal with the biggest winning margin of the campaign that helped open up a 36-point advantage in the drivers’ standings.

Fernando Alonso – 2nd : “At the end of an extremely complicated weekend, this second place tastes like a win, because we were competitive and managed to fight with the front running drivers. You never feel in danger with them, because, even wheel to wheel at 320 kilometres per hour, they have the necessary intelligence and experience to know to leave a margin of safety
Maldonado thinks penalty was unfair
June 9th, 2013
Pastor Maldonado believes his drive-through penalty for colliding with Adrian Sutil during the Canadian Grand Prix was undeserved. The Williams driver hit the back of the Force India under braking for the Turn 10 hairpin during the early stages of the race.
Marshal killed in Canadian GP incident
June 9th, 2013
The FIA has announced that a Canadian Grand Prix marshal has died following an incident at the Montreal track on Sunday.
Webber slams van der Garde
June 9th, 2013
Mark Webber slammed Caterham driver Giedo van der Garde as “a pay driver with no mirrors” after the pair’s collision during the Canadian Grand Prix. The Australian, speaking immediately after the race, blamed the Dutchman for turning in on him at the hairpin while being lapped. The stewards hit van der Garde with a 10-second stop/go penalty for the incident, with the Dutchman later being given a five-place grid penalty for the British GP after clashing with Nico Hulkenberg’s Sauber

Valtteri Bottas – 14th: “We fought hard to try and secure some points today but ultimately we just didn’t have the pace in the car.

Jules Bianchi – 17th: “It was good to be able to enjoy a dry race today because we were back on the pace we were showing earlier in the weekend in similar conditions. It was a little bit daunting to know we were planning a one stop strategy and would have to go so long on the Medium tyre, but my engineers and I kept in close contact and worked together to ensure we could manage the tyre life as we needed to.

Paul di Resta – 7th: “To finish the race in seventh having started 17th is a great result and a top job by the team. I didn’t manage to get any long run data on Friday so it feels extra sweet to make this one-stop strategy work with a very long stint on the mediums.

Kimi Raikkonen – 9th: “My race didn’t start very well and then my brakes were fading with the pedal going soft; similar to the problem we had on Friday. It wasn’t ideal but at least the brakes were good enough to slow me down for the corners. Unfortunately though it meant I lost a lot of time and wasn’t able to attack, plus we lost a few seconds in the pit stop which obviously didn’t help either

Paul Hembery: “The Canadian Grand Prix was a slight step into the unknown for everybody, with track temperatures considerably higher than they had been in qualifying yesterday. Canada is one of the most challenging circuits for the rear tyres due to high traction demands- particularly after it has rained previously in the weekend, because the moisture has the effect of washing away all the rubber that has been laid down before, which decreases grip levels further. Despite that, wear and degradation was under control for all the frontrunners and there was little of the graining that is a common feature of this race as well.

Sergio Perez – 11th: “This wasn’t the race we were hoping to have. “We tried our best to try and score a few points, but it was impossible to do any better than we did out there today.

Nico Hulkenberg – DNF: “It’s disappointing to finish a race like this. Lapping can be troublesome, but these guys are racing too and have things happenings in the race, the same as us

Lewis Hamilton – 3rd: “The car felt fantastic today and I had good grip for the low-speed corners but we just weren’t quite on the pace of Seb and Fernando. I was on the maximum that I could possibly drive and we got absolutely everything out of the car today. It would have been nice to have kept second place of course but Fernando was very quick today and it was difficult to keep him behind.
