Francesco Sini topped the one-day International Superstars Series test at Vallelunga on Thursday. The Solaris Chevrolet driver, who won his first race at Mugello earlier this season, set a best time of 1m42.54s during the rain-affected session, a time that proved unbeatable as the weather deteriorated late in the day.

Superstars racer Nico Caldarola is set to switch cars to a brand-new Mercedes C63 AMG coupe for the next round of the series in Septemeber. Caldarola, who runs the Roma Racing Team, and has raced the saloon version of the C63 AMG so far this year, gave his new machine its maiden test at the San Martino del Lago track in Italy and was happy with the results. “We would have loved to make it debut earlier,” said Caldarola

Sandro Cortese took his second 125cc World Championship victory with a dominant ride in a rain-shortened Australian Grand Prix. Bradley Smith will graduate to MotoGP in 2013 after agreeing a three-year deal with Tech 3 that includes a further year in Moto2 before he steps up to the top level. The 20-year-old Briton is currently sixth in the Moto2 standings for Tech 3 in his first year in the category

Sandro Cortese came out on top of a superb last lap battle with Johann Zarco to take his maiden 125cc World Championship race win in the Czech Grand Prix at Brno Having lost the lead at the start of the final lap to Zarco, Cortese retook the advantage into Turn 4 and held it as far as the penultimate corner of the race. Zarco stuck his Ajo Derbi inside the Racing Team Germany Aprilia, edging slightly ahead as the pair came within inches of colliding.

Red Bull is set to leave the Sprint Cup series at the end of the season but the team it owns is looking for investors to keep the outfit afloat. A story from the Associated Press on Monday stated that an official from Red Bull informed industry leaders of the decision at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. Later a statement from the team all but confirmed the report.

Budweiser will sponsor Kevin Harvick’s #29 Chevrolet from 2011, the Sprint Cup series squad announced Tuesday. Following his third win of the season last Sunday at Michigan, his team unveiled a three-year sponsorship deal, which will see him sport the colours of the American beer brand from 2011, Budweiser featuring as the main sponsor in 20 of the 36 points’ races. Harvick, the current Sprint Cup series points’ leader, has won the non points season-opening Budweiser Shootout for the past two years and he will run the the red and white logos of his new sponsor for the first time in that very event in 2011, as well as in next year’s NASCAR Sprint All-Star race.
