Analysis: the rally tests facing Kubica
March 4th, 2013
When Robert Kubica signed up to contest the Ronde di Andora in February 2011, the organisers of the event must have been delighted with all the potential publicity of having a former grand prix winner on the entry list. Then his Skoda Fabia S2000 drifted wide on a slippery right-hander, hit the wall and the barrier. The Ronde di Andora got its 15 minutes of fame and Formula 1 has since been deprived the kind of talent which would almost certainly have been a force for the world championship by now
No DTM drive for Kubica in 2013
February 20th, 2013
Robert Kubica will not join the DTM this season after Mercedes announced a six-car 2013 line-up with European Formula 3 champion Daniel Juncadella in the vacant slot that could have gone to the Pole. Kubica had tested for Mercedes earlier this month and had been linked to a DTM race seat, although a date clash with Rally Poland – a key event in his mooted European Rally Championship programme – had been an issue. Mercedes has slimmed down its DTM programme to six cars for 2013.
ERC moves Croatia and Poland dates
February 12th, 2013
The Croatian round of the European Rally Championship will move from June to September, in a change that also alters Rally Poland’s date. The Croatia Rally had originally been scheduled for June 6-8, but requested a transfer to the last weekend of September so it could coincide with an FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in the country. To make room, Rally Poland moves forward a fortnight to September 13-15.

Hirvonen just waiting for power stage
February 8th, 2013
Mikko Hirvonen will focus his Rally Sweden attentions on the power stage now as he tries to salvage three points from the second round of the World Rally Championship. The Citroen star rolled his DS3 WRC on the first stage of Friday morning , dropping 15 minutes on the stage and a further 10 minutes on the next two. “We dropped time in the next stages because the air intake became frozen with snow and the engine went to safe mode,” said Hirvonen.

Latvala: Sweden first big test for VW
February 7th, 2013
Volkswagen driver Jari-Matti Latvala says this week’s Rally Sweden will provide the Polo R WRC with its first real test competitive engine test. The team made a sensational debut on last month’s Monte Carlo Rally , when Sebastien Ogier placed the Polo second overall, but Latvala reckons the super-fast Swedish stages will really test the motor
