Frequent Flyer Miles Adding Up For Vettel
November 23rd, 2010
LUXURY CLASS: Sebastian Vettel traveled to Austria, England and then back to Abu Dhabi in the days after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Nov. 14, where he claimed the Formula One World Championship.
Hamilton: McLaren is only third best car
July 29th, 2010
Lewis Hamilton believes McLaren currently has only the third quickest car in Formula 1 – but he still thinks it can be made fast enough to win the world championship. Although the Briton leads the title standings heading into this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton is under no illusions that his outfit needs to make big development steps to improve its current challenger. And with Ferrari having delivered a 1-2 finish in the German GP, Hamilton believes his team is no longer Red Bull Racing’s closest challenger
Webber: Alonso deserved German win
July 29th, 2010
Mark Webber is adamant that Fernando Alonso was a deserving winner of the German Grand Prix and that Ferrari was absolutely correct to implement team orders – despite his Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner strongly criticising the move. Felipe Massa led much of the Hockenheim race but backed off to let his team-mate Alonso overtake with 18 laps to go
McLaren still confused by flexi-wings
July 28th, 2010
McLaren has admitted that it has no idea how to replicate the front wing set-up currently being used by Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. The legality of the front wings – approved by the FIA prior to the German Grand Prix – had been questioned by rival teams after close scrutiny revealed the wings, and endplates, seemingly flex up to 25mm lower to the ground at high speed, producing more downforce as a result. McLaren’s engineering director Paddy Lowe conceded that despite reviewing the flexi-wing design repeatedly, he is struggling to emulate it.
Kubica rules out Monaco GP repeat
July 27th, 2010
Robert Kubica has played down his chances of fighting for victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix – even though his car should be well-suited to the tight and twisty Hungaroring circuit. The Pole was very fast at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this year, fighting for pole position and the win – and his performance there prompted talk he could stage a repeat at this weekend’s event. However, Kubica believes that his R30 does not quite have the speed needed to take the fight to the current pace-setters Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and McLaren

Vettel hopes to benefit from Ferrari row
July 27th, 2010
Sebastian Vettel reckons Red Bull Racing can benefit from the team orders controversy surrounding rivals Ferrari – by simply being out of the limelight and focusing on hitting back in Hungary this weekend. Red Bull Racing has had its own fair share of post-race troubles this year – especially after the controversies of Turkey and Britain – but is now seeing the heat being put on the team that beat it at Hockenheim.
McLaren looking to copy rival front wing
July 26th, 2010
McLaren has vowed to get to the bottom of exactly what Ferrari and Red Bull Racing are doing with their front wings, after the FIA gave the designs the all-clear after the German Grand Prix. The build-up to the race was hit by a fresh flexi-wings row, amid suspicions from a number of outfits that Red Bull Racing and Ferrari were cleverly flexing their wings and endplates lower to the ground to help produce more downforce. Photographs of the cars that were distributed between teams and the FIA indicated that the front wings on the two cars in question were up to 25 mm lower than other machines.
Ferrari, Red Bull wings get all-clear
July 25th, 2010
The FIA has given the front wing designs of Red Bull Racing and Ferrari the all-clear in post German Grand Prix inspections, following a flexi-parts row in the build-up to the race. Photographs taken of the two cars over the course of the Hockenheim event appeared to indicate that their front wings were flexing in such a way that the endplates were able to run much lower to the ground – which would give the two teams a downforce advantage in high-speed corners
Horner: Ferrari move clear team orders
July 25th, 2010
Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner described Ferrari’s exchange of positions in the German Grand Prix as ‘the clearest team order’ he had seen, after his driver Sebastian Vettel finished third behind Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa at Hockenheim. Massa led the majority of the German Grand Prix, before lifting off and allowing Alonso to pass him with 17 laps to go.
Flexible wings row set to hit Formula 1
July 25th, 2010
A row over flexible front wings looks set to overshadow the German Grand Prix with a number of teams expressing concerns to the FIA about the designs on the Red Bull Racing and Ferrari cars.
McLaren: More to come from diffuser
July 25th, 2010
McLaren believes it has only just begun to scrape the surface when it comes to exploiting the full potential of its blown diffuser. The Woking-based team is racing its revised floor for the first time at this weekend’s German Grand Prix, although the new concept could not help Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button challenge Red Bull Racing for pole position. McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh reckons McLaren is nowhere near optimising the performance it can get out of its blown diffuser – and that the team should be able to get much more speed out of it over the next few races.
Red Bull under pressure to deliver
July 25th, 2010
Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has admitted that the pressure is mounting on his team to start delivering better performance on race day, after securing yet another pole position in the German Grand Prix. The Milton Keynes-based outfit has taken 10 top grid slots this season – a feat which now cannot be matched by any other team this year – but it still finds itself behind McLaren in the world championship standings
Button pins hopes on speed advantage
July 24th, 2010
Jenson Button hopes that the low-downforce strategy that McLaren has adopted for the German Grand Prix will help the team deliver a strong result in Sunday’s race. Although the Woking-based team failed to match the pace of Red Bull Racing and Ferrari in qualifying at Hockenheim, Button thinks the straight-line speed advantage the team should have on Sunday can still help it come out on top. “We can still have a very good race,” said Button
Ferrari form no surprise to Webber
July 24th, 2010
Mark Webber says it is no surprise that Ferrari has proved so strong at the German Grand Prix – as he also refused to write off McLaren’s hopes of beating Red Bull Racing at Hockenheim.
LG confident Korea will be ready
July 23rd, 2010
Korean GP sponsor LG says it has no doubts that its country’s inaugural grand prix will go ahead later this year – despite fresh doubts about the event.
Webber sure of Red Bull driver parity
July 23rd, 2010
Mark Webber says he would rather turn his back on Formula 1 then ever be forced to play second fiddle to a team-mate. With Webber sure he is given parity with team-mate Sebastian Vettel, despite the favouritism controversy that erupted at Silverstone over a front wing, the Australian has insisted that part of what he likes so much at Red Bull Racing is that he is given a fair chance.
