Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.

I was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1988 and moved to Midland, Michigan when I was two years old. I stayed there until third grade when I moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan and now I currently live in Naperville, IL where I'm attending Metea Valley High School as a 9th grader. In the past, I have participated in soccer and this year I plan on joining swimming or water polo. My family includes my 15 year old sister, a 7 year old sister and my mom and dad. I have been writing since 6th grade and have participated in many writing contests in my school and have received several awards for writing.
My fascination for motorsports began when I was nine. The first NASCAR race I watched on TV was the 2009 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, won by Kasey Kahne. My favorite NASCAR drivers are Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmie Johnson. I have watched all the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2010. I currently have three wins on iRacing, two of them in the Nationwide car at Daytona and one in the Street stocks at Charlotte. My favorite car and type of track on iRacing is the Nationwide Series (B Class) car and superspeedways.

I was born in Adelaide and we moved-out for Angle Vale for a few years until I was about 7 years old, when we moved to the Barossa Valley where I live now. I'm 19 years old and currently traveling back and forth weekly as I'm studying for a Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology.

I've always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I've won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.

Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I have always had a serious passion for cars and motorsports. Hoping one day to become an automotive journalist for a magazine, I constantly crave the exciting competition that comes along with racing and sim-racing. Having participated in a mere test session in a Legends car at Old Dominion Speedway, I have not been able to get into any real-life competition . . . yet.

As a sim racer, my interests date back to "GTR Evolution." My goal is to have fun and win some races. I made it to Oval Pro in 2010, but did not become very successful. I enjoy any mixed road racing competition and love racing the Silverados around almost any track.

Born and raised in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area, Scott Kelly has had a love for motorsports ever since his father did the right thing by introducing auto racing into his life. No longer able to quench his need for speed by spectating NASCAR races on TV and watching dirt track stars slide around local tracks, Kelly eventually picked-up sim racing in his teens, wheeling cars found in Ratbag Games' "Dirt Track Racing" and "World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars" while also becoming introduced into multiple Papyrus sim-racing series. Joining the iRacing ranks in late 2011, Kelly set his sights on the short track racing he was familiar with, focusing on the sprint car, while also driving the Legends and street stock in multiple iRacing.com leagues.

Kelly brings not just his enthusiasm for racing to the highest-rated motorsports simulation, but also his B.A. degree in English; he covers the action seen in the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, while also placing the spotlight on various leagues within the service. Enjoying his start to a career in motorsports journalism, Kelly also doesn't mind visiting victory lane from time-to-time.

I was born in Florence, South Carolina in 1989 and have lived here my entire life. I've been around racing since I was a young kid watching with my dad on Sundays. In 2009 and found my local track, Florence Motor Speedway and started working for them as a PR guy the same year. At the end of that season, I started writing for RACE22.com, a Late Model Stock Car news site. In 2010, I picked up my first DSLR camera and started shooting races. To this day, I've experienced some of the best races from behind the camera.

I've been with the iRacing service since its public beta in 2008, back when the top oval car was the Late Model. I've been in over 500 races on the service with 70+ wins on both oval and road. My favorite car on the service is the Chevrolet Silverado. Darlington Raceway and Concord Speedway are my favorite tracks simply because everybody hates them.

Earning Their Stripes

by Chris Owens on May 17th, 2013

None but the bravest Class B racers accepted the challenge of The Track Too Tough to Tame.

With the restrictor plates gone, the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series headed east to “The Lady in Black,” aka Darlington Raceway in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina for the second week of the season.  Darlington is known for its tight racing and tight corners.  It’s not often that a driver walks away from a race at Darlington without a scratch on his car.  This old racetrack will reach out and give even the best sim racers a “Darlington Stripe.” With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Darlington generally has the lowest turn-out of the season.  Rather than risk a loss of Safety Rating, many drivers opt to sit the week out.  While a majority of drivers were sitting on the sidelines, 164 sim-racers took to the 1.366 [...]

Show ‘Em What You’ve Got

by David Phillips on May 13th, 2013

So far, only four drivers have visited the Winners Circle in the 2013 NiSWC . . . and Ottinger has back-to-back wins to his credit.

Heading to Darlington Raceway on Tuesday, the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship is off to a hectic start.  Series leaders Tyler D Hudson and Brian Schoenburg are still looking for their first wins; likewise two-time defending champion Ray Alfalla, who has clawed his way back into the reckoning after opening the campaign with 42nd and 36th place finishes in two of the first three events.  Meanwhile, Daytona winner Adam Gilliland finds himself P8 . . . three better than Phoenix winner (and 2012 championship runner-up) Michael Conti, who failed to qualify for the season opener. All the more remarkable, then, that just five races into the young season Nick Ottinger already has a pair of wins to his credit, with back-to-back triumphs at Texas Motor Speedway and Richmond International [...]

Ottinger Steals Richmond for Second Straight Win

by Jason Lofing on May 1st, 2013

174
In the right place at the right time, Ottinger scored his second straight NiSWC triumph..

After the smoke cleared from the Richmond carnage, Nick Ottinger found himself in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship victory lane for the second straight race.  Unlike two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, where Ottinger had the dominant car from start to finish, his victory at Richmond International Raceway was achieved with good strategy and some timely accident avoidance. “Two in a row! Wow, I had a great car for the long run,” said Ottinger. “I really can’t explain how we survived it all; however we had the right strategy and it kept playing into our favor late in the race.” Ottinger started twenty-second and wasted no time cutting his way through the field. By the time the first caution flew on Lap 48, Ottinger had already cracked the [...]

Class B Action in the Lone Star State

by Chris Owens on April 18th, 2013

"Texas Motor Speedway is known for its high speeds and tricky corner exits . . ."

Week 11 of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series headed to the Lone Star State for the final mile and half week of the season.  Texas Motor Speedway is known for its high speeds and tricky corner exits and would be sure to provide a challenge to all drivers.  442 sim-racers would start a race during the week with series points leader Simon Crochart leading them in the weekly points race. Crochart amassed 268 points for the week following his lone race.  John Schweickart was second for the week with 258 points in two starts.  Tom Moustakas was third followed by Ashley Miller in fourth and Brandon Buie rounding-out the top five. Crochart led the series in qualifying for the week, taking the overall pole position with a time of [...]

Ottinger Puts on a Show at Texas

by Jason Lofing on April 17th, 2013

101
Nick Ottinger was in dominant form at Texas Motor Speedway.

Nick Ottinger dominated Round Four of the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship from start to finish at Texas Motor Speedway Tuesday night, cruising to a comfortable victory over two time champion Ray Alfalla. Ottinger, who started from the pole, led 128 of 167 laps and was only passed for position once on the track as the race went caution-free. Ottinger’s victory makes it four different winners thus far in the 2013 NiSWC season. “Feels great to break through and get a win! Starting up front helped, however, we knew the car was stout and had a blast going caution-free,” said Ottinger after picking up his third career NiSWC win. Ottinger beat Alfalla to the checkers by 3.4 seconds, with Marcus Lindsey finishing third, six seconds behind. Teammates Chad Laughton and [...]

Shelton Tops at Iowa

by Ray Kingsbury on March 20th, 2013

127
? and ? lead the SOF to the green.

Iowa Speedway, a four-turned banked short track in the corn fields of Newton, Iowa was the watering grounds for Week Seven of the NASCAR iRacing.com National Series. iRacing’s sim-racers enjoyed an action-filled week on the online version of the track that NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace had built himself. The track draws some of its design from Richmond International Raceway with the exception that it is slightly longer and the turns have more banking. In this week’s championship standings Nick Shelton edged-out Brandon Hauff by a mere point. Despite Shelton not claiming a single win, he was consistent and managed three top five finishes in three races. Shelton completed 150 laps leading two of those races; this in comparison to Hauff who made nine starts, captured five wins, and eight top [...]

Jarrell & Luza Top Richmond

by Jordan Hightower on February 20th, 2013

Week 3 Richmond Fixed P1

Week Three of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (fixed setup) goes deep into NASCAR country with a trip to Richmond International Raceway. In many sports, playing at home is usually a great advantage. This proved true in the sim-racing world as well. This week, a local Virginian earned the most championship points while an out-of-towner from Texas took the checkered flag in the high Strength of Field event. Ryan Luza (Texas) was able to win the week’s high Strength of Field event in dominating fashion, leading 42 of the race’s 50 laps en route to a 0.554 second margin of victory over Matthew Wright2 (New York). Brenden Koehler (Pennsylvania) finished in the third position after starting 13th and avoiding carnage. Jim Caudill Jr (Mid-South) came home in the fourth [...]

Gilliland Class of the Richmond Field

by Jason Lofing on December 12th, 2012

160
Gilliland (81) kept Crawford (83) at bay to score his first NiPS win in a caution-free race at Richmond,

Adam Gilliland took Richmond International Raceway by storm last night, winning his first career NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series race in dominating fashion. A small hiccup in qualifying put Gilliland sixth on the grid but he started slowly marching his way forward from the drop of the green flag. On a track that was proving to be tough to pass on, Gilliland was one of few drivers moving forward thanks to his great speed on a long run. He took the lead on Lap 70 and was never challenged again as the online race surprisingly went caution-free. “After (passing for the lead) I was in lap traffic for the remainder of the race just keeping the nose on the car and making smart decisions,” said Gilliland. “I am very proud to [...]

Laughton Tops Crawford for Third NiPS Victory

by Jason Lofing on December 5th, 2012

143
Laughton (26) bested Stergios and 34 other sim-racers at Kentucky en-route to his third win of the 2012 NiPS campaign.

Chad Laughton continued his dominant NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series season, picking-up his third victory under the lights at Kentucky Speedway. Laughton started tenth, but worked his way to third by the time the first caution flew on Lap 64. He took the lead on Lap 79 shortly after a restart and held-off Jared Crawford for the remaining 56 laps. The win is Laughton’s third in five online races in the 2012 NiPS season and he appears to be in a class of his own when it comes to speed, especially on fresh tires. Kentucky was no exception as Laughton drove from fifth to the lead in less than 10 laps after a restart and was never threatened on a restart for the rest of the race. Crawford looked to have [...]

Saxon Sails to Top of Tour Modifieds

by Tim Terry on November 16th, 2012

93
The NiTMS hit the ground running at New Smyrna and Richmond.

In the first two weeks of the NASCAR iRacing.com Tour Modified (NiTM) Series, Nathan Saxon has put the field on notice that he will be a contender for the title in 2012 Season Four. Saxon took top honors in the standings over the first week of the season at New Smyrna Speedway and followed it up with a strong podium run at Richmond International Raceway in Week Two. Saxon has been a member of the service since mid-2011, boasts a 4000+ iRating as of press time, is a member of Road Runner Racing team and spent 2012 Season Three focusing on the SK Modified division. Saxon’s Week One point total of 128 came during a 2104 strength of field (sof) race on November 3rd in which he took the checkered [...]

Heavyweights Norton & McCracken Win at Richmond

by Jeff Yeager on September 17th, 2012

99
Norton led just one lap at Richmond: the one that counted.

Week Seven took the iRacing.com IZOD IndyCar Series oval series to another facility normally associated with stock car country.  At ¾ of a mile, Richmond International Speedway is not only the shortest track on this season’s schedule, but also many a sim-racer’s favorite track as well. Monday’s top split provided as strong of a field as we’ve seen this season with names like Tim Doyle, Ryan Norton, and Chris Manifold joining the regular Monday night crowd.  For Doyle and Manifold, however, the night would be a short one as a six car crash knocked almost a third of the starting grid. After the initial caution period, the race settled in with only one more yellow, which would make the finish a memorable one.  With less than ten laps to go, [...]

Daley Shines Under Richmond Moonlight

September 14th, 2012

iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations

With the NFL season kicking off while the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (NiCAS) was at Richmond International Speedway for Week Six, it was time for some NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series (NiPS) hopefuls to throw a mid season hail mary. With much of the season being dominated by NASCAR iRacing.com World Championship Series (NiSWC) drivers racing down, Week Six in Richmond provided favorable scheduling for a Class A regular to break through. Despite stellar weeks by a few Class A regulars, it was NiSWC driver Byron Daley who won his only start in the highest rated race of the week to snatch top honors with 337 points. Daley was able to capitalize on the misfortune of former NiPS winner Kenny Humpe, who dominated the race leading 115 of 130 laps. [...]

Laughton Tops Richmond

by Allen Krier on September 12th, 2012

121
Sitting on the grid before the start of the race.

For Week Six, the midway point of the season, the NiCBS traveled to Richmond International Raceway. Drivers raced under the lights at the 0.75 mile oval located in Richmond, Va. For the week, 544 drivers attempted at least one race while 200 drivers turned at least one lap in qualifying. Week Six’s SoF race took place at Friday at 8:30pm EST and had 29 drivers. The SoF for the race was 5091, which paid 326 points to win. Chad Laughton (Carolina) started on the pole and led the first nine laps before relinquishing the lead after a pit stop under caution. Alex Warren (Illinois) 41 laps until being passed by Jared Crawford (Michigan). Crawford would nine laps before losing the lead under caution. Laughton would take over the top spot [...]

Chad J Laughton Wins Big in Atlanta

September 7th, 2012

93
iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations

It is always exciting when the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (NiCAS) schedule aligns with the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship (NiSWC) schedule, and last week in Atlanta provided a season’s worth of excitement jam packed into one week of racing. With the current iRacing.com build, the speeds are blistering fast around Atlanta Motor Speedway, and the level of grip is unworldly. That combined with top notch drivers driving top notch setups gave everyone a week to remember. Keeping with the theme of this third and final season for Class A licensed drivers to race their way into the NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series (NiPS), the week was dominated by Pro/NiSWC drivers. In fact, top rated drivers took every position in the top five of the weekly standings. Chad J Laughton [...]

Sansone Scores at Richmond

by Scott Kelly on July 3rd, 2012

156
Michael Lampella got the Richmond week off to a flying start with a win on Tuesday.

Last week, defending iRacing.com Sprint Car Series (iSCS) champion Alan Binder let his fellow drivers know that he would be taking Week 9 off.  The competition responded like sharks in a feeding frenzy, with 55 sim-racers entering this week’s events at Richmond International Raceway, all hoping to catch that elusive win with their sprints. Three online races were made official during the week with no splits, allowing the field sizes in each race to be packed and loaded with talent. On Tuesday, 18 cars made the grid for the first race of the week. While the iSCS points leaders were busy making appearances at other motorsports events, tension built between all of the entrants as it was clear Tuesday’s was anyone’s race to win. However, it was a familiar name [...]

Crawford Wins Caution Free Race

by Allen Krier on June 27th, 2012

99
Sitting on the grid of the weekly SoF.

Richmond International Raceway was the location for Week Eight of the season. Drivers would race under the lights at the 0.75 mile track. Jared Crawford (Michigan) looked to continue his current domination of the series while other drivers look to steal Crawford’s thunder. 509 drivers attempted at least one race during the week while 162 drivers turned at least one qualifying lap. “Unreal that the race went caution free that was awesome!” – Devan Hall. Friday night’s Strength of Field race had 25 drivers and an SoF of 5039. The race was one of the best races of the season. Crawford would start on the pole and lead 125 of the 130 laps in route to a two second win over Casey Malone (Texas), who started in the third position. [...]

Binder On Fire at Oxford Plains

by Scott Kelly on June 26th, 2012

219
As usual, Binder was in flawless form at Oxford Plains.

Racing into Week 8, defending iRacing.com Sprint Car Series champion Alan Binder had stretched his lead in the points chase to 21 over Pro/WC driver Vinnie Sansone. At Oxford Plains Speedway, one of Binder’s favorite tracks, he proved that he had more to show than a win or two. While numerous drivers were learning how to take the track’s tricky open turns and doughnut-shaped structure, Binder was priming to make this week one for the books. 60 sim-racers took to Oxford this past week ready to churn laps less than 15 seconds long. In the first qualifying session of the week, Binder set a new iRacing world record by becoming the first driver to blaze a lap time at Oxford in less than 14 seconds, etching a 13.993s in the [...]

Strategy Sends Sheehan to Richmond Victory

by Jason Lofing on May 2nd, 2012

1,484
Sheehan burns his remaining virtual rubber celebrating his Richmond win.

Steve Sheehan knows what it is like to be on the wrong end of a strategy call, but Tuesday night at Richmond International Raceway, it was Sheehan who outsmarted everyone en route to win Round Six of the 2012 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship.  The veteran sim racer stayed out on old tires under a late race yellow when nearly every other car pitted, giving him a lead he held to the finish ahead of John Gorlinsky, Nick Ottinger and Josh Berry. Sheehan first took the lead on Lap 144 of 200, but it was the decision not to pit with the rest of the field on Lap 168 that put him in position to win. Alex Warren, Joshua Laughton and Florian Godard tried the same strategy, but were unable [...]

Phil Juhring Wins Season 1 2012 NiCBS Championship

by Allen Krier on April 25th, 2012

186
Champion Phil Juhring at Richmond.

The final week of the season saw the iRacing.com Class B Series travel to Richmond International Raceway, to run the final races of the season under the lights. Phil Juhring (New Jersey) came into Richmond as the point’s leader and planned to leave as the champion. The final week of the season saw 566 drivers attempt at least one race while 191 drivers attempted one lap in qualifying. The last SoF race of the season took place at the usual time and had an SoF of 4374. The race had 25 drivers and paid 279 points to win. Jason Karlavige (Pennsylvania) once again dominated the race. Karlavige started on pole and lead 106 laps on his way to a 1 second victory over Brad Mahar (New England). “The last two [...]
