Rosberg: Mercedes pole not guaranteed
May 23rd, 2013
Monaco pacesetter Nico Rosberg remains wary that Mercedes’ Formula 1 rivals are yet to show their strongest hands in Monte Carlo. Mercedes had been a popular tip for victory heading into the weekend, and Rosberg proved such views were not without foundation as he went fastest in both practice sessions in the Principality.
Rosberg fastest again in second practice
May 23rd, 2013
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton proved that Mercedes’ Formula 1 rivals are right to fear its Monaco pace as they went first and second in Thursday afternoon practice in Monte Carlo. Following his consecutive poles in Bahrain and Spain, and fastest time in practice one in Monaco , Rosberg continued his strong run by topping the second session on a 1m14.759s. He set that lap less than half an hour into the session and it remained unbeaten for the rest of the afternoon, as teams instead focused on just how far they could push both the soft and super-soft tyre compounds
Paffett says yellow-flag rules wrong
May 21st, 2013
Gary Paffett believes the DTM’s yellow-flag rules are ‘wrong’, and need a serious revision before the next round at Spielberg. The HWA Mercedes driver finished third on the road at Brands Hatch last weekend, but was demoted to sixth after five seconds were added to his race time for a yellow-flag infringement. Paffett was deemed to have not slowed by the mandatory 0.5s in sector three of the Brands Indy circuit as he passed Edoardo Mortara’s stricken Audi at Clearways with 12 laps remaining.
Rosberg, Grosjean for FOTA forum
May 17th, 2013
Nico Rosberg and Romain Grosjean are just two of the star guests who have been confirmed for the next FOTA Fans’ Forum that takes place in Montreal ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. The Mercedes and Lotus drivers will be joined by rivals Charles Pic (Caterham), Jules Bianchi (Marussia) and Paul di Resta (Force India) to answer questions from fans about the state of F1. There will also be a team panel to discuss the sport.
Lack of DRS signal hampered di Resta
May 12th, 2013
Force India says Paul di Resta’s late chase of Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes for sixth place in the Spanish Grand Prix was hampered by an external DRS problem. The team had to instruct di Resta when he could use DRS via the radio as he was not getting the automatic signals into his car. Deputy team chief Bob Fernley said it had been a complicated procedure.
Mercedes not confident over tyre woes
May 11th, 2013
Ross Brawn says Mercedes cannot be confident enough that it has sorted its tyre woes to rule out a repeat of its Bahrain Grand Prix woes in Spain. Although the team believes that it has made progress with its degradation issues, Brawn says that it is still unsure about its chances of keeping front row duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton at the head of the field. “The race is the key part and that is what ultimately counts,” said Brawn, when asked by AUTOSPORT if the team was more confident about its prospects than it was in Bahrain
Rosberg leads all-Mercedes front row
May 11th, 2013
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton secured an all-Mercedes front row in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix. Rosberg repeated his Bahrain pole in a brilliant Q3 performance in which he delivered two laps good enough for the top spot.
Rosberg: tyre fix a ‘massive mission’
April 22nd, 2013
Nico Rosberg believes Mercedes faces a “massive mission” to get on top of its rear tyre struggles, after a disappointing Bahrain Grand Prix. The German qualified on pole position but he tumbled down the order in the race to finish ninth, as he was not able to look after his rear tyres as much as his rivals. With the Sakhir weekend having highlighted the key area that Mercedes needs to improve, Rosberg is under no illusions about the hard work that he and his outfit now face
Hamilton: car transformed mid-race
April 21st, 2013
An ecstatic Lewis Hamilton hailed the impact of his late-race pace after his Mercedes transformed from a ‘sitting duck’ to ‘amazing’ in the Bahrain Grand Prix . After starting from ninth – the result of a disappointing qualifying and a five-place grid penalty – Hamilton lost ground at the start and then struggled for grip and performance
Vettel taken aback by ease of victory
April 21st, 2013
Sebastian Vettel admitted he never expected Bahrain Grand Prix victory to come so easily. The Red Bull driver notched up his second victory from four rounds of the 2013 Formula 1 season, and was untroubled up front once he had passed Nico Rosberg for the lead on lap three. “I surely did not expect that,” said Vettel.

Vettel: Rosberg pole time out of reach
April 20th, 2013
Sebastian Vettel admitted there was no way he could have matched Nico Rosberg’s shock pole time in Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying . The world champion’s Red Bull will share the front row with Rosberg’s Mercedes, which did two laps good enough for pole. Vettel was ultimately 0.2 seconds slower than his countryman, but said he was satisfied
Rosberg takes surprise Bahrain pole
April 20th, 2013
Nico Rosberg claimed a shock pole position for Mercedes in Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying at Sakhir. Mercedes had not looked like an outright frontrunner during practice, but Rosberg set a banker 1m32.4s lap at the start of Q3 and it proved impossible to beat. Sebastian Vettel got closest for Red Bull with a 1m32.584s, just ahead of Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari
Rosberg sure of stronger race pace
April 13th, 2013
Nico Rosberg says he has no concerns about only being fourth on the Chinese Grand Prix as he suspects his car will have better race pace than many other frontrunners. Last year’s dominant Shanghai winner had been tipped as a pole and victory threat having blitzed opening practice. But while Rosberg’s Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton stormed to the squad’s first pole of the 2013 Formula 1 season, the German was 0.4 seconds slower in fourth, behind Kimi Raikkonen’s Lotus and Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari

The Spaniard’s best lap of 1m35.391s was still slower than the benchmark set by Massa in second practice on Friday. The Brazilian was second quickest on Saturday morning, over six tenths behind his team-mate
Mercedes duo cautious over win chance
April 12th, 2013
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton believe it is too early to start thinking of fighting victory in the Chinese Grand Prix despite Mercedes’ strong start to the weekend. The duo were comfortably quickest in the opening practice session before finishing fourth and seventh in the afternoon . Rosberg dominated the Shanghai event last year from pole position, but the German insists he is not getting carried away

April 12th, 2013

Rosberg: team orders were a shock
April 11th, 2013
Nico Rosberg wants Mercedes to ensure it fully discusses all team orders in advance in the future after his frustration in the Malaysian Grand Prix. Rosberg was catching third-placed team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages of the race but was asked by team boss Ross Brawn to hold position . The German questioned the decision repeatedly on team radio, but obeyed the order and came home fourth

Mercedes doubts it can repeat China win
April 5th, 2013
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says his team’s victory in last year’s Chinese Grand Prix does not mean it can realistically target the same result next week despite its encouraging start to the season. Nico Rosberg took a commanding victory from pole position at Shanghai last year. It was Mercedes’ first win since returning to Formula 1 under its own name, and Rosberg’s maiden F1 win.
