WRC promoter urged to raise game
November 8th, 2012
Rally Mexico director Patrick Suberville has admitted the World Rally Championship has to go backwards before it can go forwards under the new promoter. Suberville said the series needs to return to the standards and levels of publicity achieved under former promoter North One Sports in 2010 to use as a base for the future development of the championship. Red Bull Media House and Sportsman Media representatives met with the event organisers in Paris last week and while Suberville was impressed with the firm’s plans, he added there was plenty of work to do.
NASCAR to examine team deals
February 20th, 2012
NASCAR could review its regulations regarding teams taking on other squads’ points to ensure their drivers can qualify for Sprint Cup events. Under NASCAR rules, the top 35 in the owners’ standings from the previous year are guaranteed qualifying spots in the opening five Cup rounds. This has led to various deals being struck and partnerships created between teams to get drivers into the field, including this year an alliance between Stewart-Haas Racing and Tommy Baldwin Racing that saw the former’s rookie driver Danica Patrick transferred to a Baldwin entry to ensure qualification for the early races

International F3 series created for ’11
December 10th, 2010
The FIA has announced the creation of a new Formula 3 International Trophy for the 2011 season, encompassing classic events such as the Pau and Macau street races, as predicted by AUTOSPORT magazine last month. Drivers registered for the various national F3 series will be able to score in the new international contest, which will use the Formula 1-style 25-18-15-etc top 10 points system. The top three drivers in the final classification will qualify for the superlicence required for F1, putting the F3 International Trophy on a par with Formula 2
