March 7th, 2013
Denny Hamlin has been fined $25,000 by NASCAR for criticising the quality of racing with the new Gen-6 car over the opening two events. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was issued with the penalty after NASCAR determined that the remarks he made in pit road after last weekend’s Phoenix race were in breach of section 12-1 of the series rule book, which covers actions detrimental to stock car racing

February 24th, 2013
Sunday’s 55th running of the Daytona 500, American racing’s biggest stock car event, will go ahead despite 28 fans being injured in a violent crash at the end of Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series event. A section of debris fencing near the start/finish line was torn down in the last-lap crash, and a wheel flew over the fencing, resulting in 14 fans requiring hospital treatment with two of them reportedly suffering critical injuries – one of them life-threatening. Gordon hopes Busch learns lessons
June 8th, 2012
Jeff Gordon believes Kurt Busch’s suspension is a step backwards in the 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion’s career but still hopes he can bounce back and show his best on the track again. Busch is currently serving a suspension after NASCAR ruled he violated a probation status by verbally abusing a journalist last week at Dover. Previous pitroad incidents at Darlington had prompted action from the sanctioning body but officials deemed the Phoenix driver’s behaviour last weekend deserved further reprimand
Busch fined for pit road incident
May 16th, 2012
Kurt Busch has been fined by NASCAR for a pit road incident last weekend following the conclusion of Saturday’s Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway. The 2004 champion hit the back of Ryan Newman’s Stewart Haas Chevy on pit road and crew members from his team and Newman’s were later involved in a scuffle. Busch had been a top-ten contender before a late spin, while Newman also spun behind him trying to avoid hitting the #51 car of Busch, but their incidents seemed unrelated to the post-race issue, which was under investigation from NASCAR

The hearing will take place in Indianapolis on Thursday, and will consist of a three-person panel made up of a representative selected by Honda, a representative selected by General Motors, and a representative mutually agreed on by both manufacturers. Austin GP chiefs in push to save race
November 24th, 2011
Austin Grand Prix chiefs say they are ready to pay the sanctioning fee for next year’s Formula 1 race in the United States – but will only sign a contract on their own terms. Amid growing uncertainty about the future of the event, with Bernie Ecclestone suggesting the event will be dropped at next month’s meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council, the Circuit of the Americas has declared itself prepared to sort out a last minute deal to prevent that happening. In a statement that was issued on Thursday, Austin race organisers revealed that they were willing to pay the sanctioning fee for next year’s race immediately, as well as sort out a payment schedule for future events
