One afternoon in May I was testing iRacing’s new Cadillac CTS-V at Watkins Glen when the mail arrived with an invitation to attend a Cadillac “arrive ‘n drive” event at Monticello Motor Club (MMC). Naturally, I accepted – immediately – and a few days later found myself pulling up to the gates of MMC, about 90 minutes northwest of New York City. First a bit of background . . . I currently own a BMW M5, and I also raced a GT1 Corvette in the SCCA and SVRA for more than 10 years. I suspect that, as an M5 owner, I’m right in the sweet spot of Cadillac’s target demographic for their V-Series. So it’s fair to say I had an advantage on the other folks at MMC that day. [...]

Editor’s Note: Wyatt Gooden has enjoyed great success racing sedans in both the real and virtual worlds. As winner of the iRacing.com VW Jetta TDi Cup series in 2008, the young Ohioan earned an iRacing.com-sponsored ride in the 2009 SCCA Pro Racing VW Jetta TDi Cup. After a rough first outing,Gooden rebounded to score a pair of wins and capture the series rookie of the year honors. Earlier this month, Wyatt turned his attention to open wheels, making his debut in the SCCA F1600 Formula F Championship at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Quantum Racing’s Honda Fit-powered Van Diemen with support from iRacing.com 2.0 and Starting Grid. Qualifying Continues For SCCA Runoffs

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. — Day two of qualifying during the 47th running of the SCCA National Championship Runoffs has been completed, with six more classes setting provisional poles in their opening sessions and three drivers improving into the top spot during second sessions Tuesday at Road America. A damp 14-turn, four-mile racing surface greeted competitors in the six classes who, in addition to 22 classes yesterday, were still waiting for their first chance to turn a meaningful lap over four days of qualifying for this weekend’s National Championship races
