Munoz keeps Andretti on top at Indy
May 17th, 2013
Andretti Autosport continued to set the pace at the end of the sixth day of practice for the Indianapolis 500, with Carlos Munoz leading team-mates Ryan Hunter-Reay and Marco Andretti for a 1-2-3 Andretti sweep of the timesheets. Munoz set the fastest time so far this week with his 225.163mph lap, which came during a late flurry of activity following a restart with 20 minutes of running left. “The fastest lap was an unbelievable tow,” Munoz said

May 9th, 2013
Buddy Lazier will attempt to qualify for this month’s Indianapolis 500 after finalising a deal to enter a self-run car. The 1996 Indy 500 winner and 2000 IRL IndyCar champion will drive the Chevrolet-powered #91 car for Lazier Partners Racing, which is owned by his father and former Indy 500 racer Bob Lazier
Sato claims first IndyCar victory
April 21st, 2013
Takuma Sato claimed his first IndyCar victory in a chaotic race around the streets of Long Beach. Sato ran among the frontrunners throughout the afternoon, and moved into the lead as the field cycled through its pitstops during a caution period on lap 31. From there, both he and his team were flawless – Sato was quick when he needed to be, looked after his tyres, enjoyed perfect service in the pits, and never appeared to have any problems managing the gap between himself and his pursuers
Franchitti snatches Long Beach pole
April 20th, 2013
Dario Franchitti will start Sunday’s IndyCar race at Long Beach from pole position after triumphing in a hard-fought qualifying session. Ganassi driver Franchitti, who came into the Long Beach weekend last in the points standings after two disastrous opening races, used his final flying lap to deliver a 1m07.2379s that improved the benchmark laid down by Ryan Hunter-Reay by 0.0555 seconds. Hunter-Reay’s time was still good enough to keep him on the front row for Andretti, although Penske’s Will Power was only a further 0.05s in arrears.
Hunter-Reay tops messy practice
April 19th, 2013
Ryan Hunter-Reay went fastest in a patchy second IndyCar practice session at Long Beach, with track time interrupted four times by red flags. Hunter-Reay produced a 1m09.4224s to take the top spot for Andretti Autosport, leaving Rahal Letterman Lanigan’s series returnee Mike Conway second-quickest with a time just 0.0379 seconds off that set by the reigning champion. Early leader Will Power finished up with the third-best lap in his Penske entry, although the constant interruptions made it hard for all teams to string together meaningful runs
An Open Letter from Target/Ganassi to Toyota GP of Long Beach GP Pro/Celebrity Drivers
by Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon on April 17th, 2013
April 17, 2013 Dear Drivers, It’s the Target Racing Indy car drivers here, with some (unsolicited) advice as you prepare to hit the track this weekend at The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro/Celebrity Race. Think you can just put on a fire suit and slide into a race car for 10 adrenaline-pumping laps just like that? Not so fast. We’re talking to each and every one of you: Jackson Rathbone, Wanda Sykes, Michelle Rodriguez, Kate del Castillo, Cristian Castro, Jesse Metcalfe, Adam Carolla, Mark Steines, Jenna Elfman and Rutledge Wood. Most of you haven’t logged time in the seat of an Indy car going 230 mph, so we’ve come up with a few pointers to get you race-ready. Except you, Rodriguez—we were pretty impressed by your skills in [...]
Hunter-Reay beats Dixon to victory
April 7th, 2013
Ryan Hunter-Reay fought off Scott Dixon to become the first non-Penske driver to win an IndyCar race at Barber Motorsports Park. Hunter-Reay was in contention throughout the race, but he moved into the lead for the final time when he took advantage of his softer red tyres to pass primary tyre-shod Helio Castroneves with 15 laps to go. Castroneves immediately fell victim to Dixon as well, and what had been a 1.2-second advantage to the American was swiftly eroded as Dixon closed him down
Briscoe set for Ganassi Indy 500 seat
April 7th, 2013
Ryan Briscoe is expected to return to Ganassi’s IndyCar line-up for a one-off appearance at the Indianapolis 500 in May. The Australian, currently out of a drive after Penske scaled down to two full-time cars at the end of last year, spent a season with Ganassi in 2005. That stint ended with a heavy crash at Chicagoland that ruled him out of the final two rounds, but the 31-year-old has reportedly agreed terms to be reunited with the team in a fourth car at Indianapolis.

Power moved to the top of the timing screens early on with a 1m01.4467s lap, and his time – just 0.07 seconds slower than the lap that earned him pole position here last year – was never beaten. Morning pacesetter Ryan Hunter-Reay came closest with a time 0.1785s slower than his rival’s, while Simona de Silvestro’s move to KV and Chevrolet power got off to an encouraging start with the third-best lap.

James Hinchliffe also beat Power’s time to make it an Andretti Autosport one-two with a lap 0.0010s off Hunter-Reay’s time

March 13th, 2013
Will Power finished the IndyCar open test at Barber Motorsports Park on top after once again setting the best lap in Wednesday’s afternoon session. August 27th, 2012
Ryan Briscoe held off Penske team-mate Will Power to take the win at Sears Point, although the latter’s championship hopes received a huge boost when many of his rivals struck trouble. Power held the advantage for most of the race, but was caught out when he pitted just as the yellow flags came out for a heavy crash between Sebastien Bourdais and Josef Newgarden

August 5th, 2012
Scott Dixon extended his recent streak of success at Mid-Ohio to four wins from the past six years with victory for Ganassi in this weekend’s IndyCar race. Dixon, who previously won at the track in 2007, 2009 and last year, took the lead from Will Power during the final pitstops and controlled the race from that point on, eventually crossing the finish line almost 3.5 seconds ahead of Penske driver Power
