Sutil: nothing to prove against di Resta

Adrian Sutil says he has nothing to prove against Force India team-mate Paul di Resta, having already shown he can beat the Scot. Di Resta was evenly-matched with highly-rated 2012 team-mate Nico Hulkenberg for most of last year, while Sutil spent the season on the sidelines having lost his seat.
Breen secures works Peugeot drive

Craig Breen has become a factory driver in the European Rally Championship after being named as a member of the inaugural Peugeot Rally Academy. The 22-year-old Irishman won the Super 2000 World Rally Championship last year to add to his WRC Academy title in 2011, but was left on the sidelines as both the ERC and WRC kicked off during January. On Friday, however, Peugeot confirmed that Breen would contest eight ERC rounds in its new R5-spec 208, driving for a works team run by the French Sainteloc Racing squad
Cozzolino replaces Cerqui for Macau

D’Ambrosio setting no Monza targets

The Belgian has been called up to replace the banned Romain Grosjean for this weekend, but he only has one day of running in the Lotus E20 to his name. Hulkenberg feels now on the right path

Nico Hulkenberg believes he is now showing his real potential after shaking off the ‘rust’ that developed during his season on the sidelines in 2011. The German spent last year as Force India’s reserve driver, having lost his Williams race seat at the end of 2010. Hulkenberg then replaced Adrian Sutil in Force India’s race line-up for this season.

Button positive despite practice woes

A philosophical Jenson Button said he was focusing on the positives despite missing the majority of second practice after running wide at Turn 14 of the Singapore Marina Bay circuit. Button locked up and only narrowly avoided the wall at Turn 14 just before the session’s halfway point. He was initially able to select reverse, but the gear stopped working and Button’s car was stranded, forcing him to watch from the sidelines.
Edwards denied permission to race

Colin Edwards has been denied medical clearance to take part in today’s Catalunya Grand Prix. The Tech 3 Yamaha rider had hoped be might be allowed to take the start despite having only had a plate fitted to his broken collarbone in an operation in a Barcelona hospital yesterday. Nick Heidfeld is on the verge of an early return to Formula 1 this season, AUTOSPORT has learned, with sources suggesting that he is close to a deal that could see him drive for Sauber from the Singapore Grand Prix. The German has been on the sidelines this year, having originally been test driver for Mercedes GP before recently assuming the development role for Pirelli. However, sources have suggested that Heidfeld is now close to agreeing a deal that could see him back in a race seat for the next event in Singapore.

West-Tec signs Maurage for Algarve

British Formula 3 team West-Tec has signed Frenchman Mathieu Maurage for the rounds at the new Algarve circuit in Portugal next month. The 18-year-old will join regular driver Max Snegirev for his F3 debut, having raced in the French-based Formule Academy series so far this season.
