I was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1988 and moved to Midland, Michigan when I was two years old. I stayed there until third grade when I moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan and now I currently live in Naperville, IL where I'm attending Metea Valley High School as a 9th grader. In the past, I have participated in soccer and this year I plan on joining swimming or water polo. My family includes my 15 year old sister, a 7 year old sister and my mom and dad. I have been writing since 6th grade and have participated in many writing contests in my school and have received several awards for writing.
My fascination for motorsports began when I was nine. The first NASCAR race I watched on TV was the 2009 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, won by Kasey Kahne. My favorite NASCAR drivers are Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmie Johnson. I have watched all the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2010. I currently have three wins on iRacing, two of them in the Nationwide car at Daytona and one in the Street stocks at Charlotte. My favorite car and type of track on iRacing is the Nationwide Series (B Class) car and superspeedways.

I was born in Adelaide and we moved-out for Angle Vale for a few years until I was about 7 years old, when we moved to the Barossa Valley where I live now. I'm 19 years old and currently traveling back and forth weekly as I'm studying for a Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology.

I've always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I've won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.

Nathan's passion for motorsport first began in the late 1980s, captivated by the season in which Aryton Senna won his first F1 title with McLaren. Over the years his interest widened to include the British Touring Car Championship, World Rally Championship, NASCAR and various other forms of motorsport. Nathan began sim-racing in the mid 1990s using games developed by Papyrus. He later moved onto SimBim simulations such as GTR, GTR2 and GTR Evolution and has most recently joined the iRacing community.

When he's not working or sim racing, Nathan enjoys spending time and relaxing with his family. Other hobbies include going to festivals, tinkering with his car and doing up his house.

Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I have always had a serious passion for cars and motorsports. Hoping one day to become an automotive journalist for a magazine, I constantly crave the exciting competition that comes along with racing and sim-racing. Having participated in a mere test session in a Legends car at Old Dominion Speedway, I have not been able to get into any real-life competition . . . yet.

As a sim racer, my interests date back to "GTR Evolution." My goal is to have fun and win some races. I made it to Oval Pro in 2010, but did not become very successful. I enjoy any mixed road racing competition and love racing the Silverados around almost any track.

    Contributing Writer
Born and raised in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area, Scott Kelly has had a love for motorsports ever since his father did the right thing by introducing auto racing into his life. No longer able to quench his need for speed by spectating NASCAR races on TV and watching dirt track stars slide around local tracks, Kelly eventually picked-up sim racing in his teens, wheeling cars found in Ratbag Games' "Dirt Track Racing" and "World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars" while also becoming introduced into multiple Papyrus sim-racing series. Joining the iRacing ranks in late 2011, Kelly set his sights on the short track racing he was familiar with, focusing on the sprint car, while also driving the Legends and street stock in multiple iRacing.com leagues.

Kelly brings not just his enthusiasm for racing to the highest-rated motorsports simulation, but also his B.A. degree in English; he covers the action seen in the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, while also placing the spotlight on various leagues within the service. Enjoying his start to a career in motorsports journalism, Kelly also doesn't mind visiting victory lane from time-to-time.

I was born in Florence, South Carolina in 1989 and have lived here my entire life. I've been around racing since I was a young kid watching with my dad on Sundays. In 2009 and found my local track, Florence Motor Speedway and started working for them as a PR guy the same year. At the end of that season, I started writing for RACE22.com, a Late Model Stock Car news site. In 2010, I picked up my first DSLR camera and started shooting races. To this day, I've experienced some of the best races from behind the camera.

I've been with the iRacing service since its public beta in 2008, back when the top oval car was the Late Model. I've been in over 500 races on the service with 70+ wins on both oval and road. My favorite car on the service is the Chevrolet Silverado. Darlington Raceway and Concord Speedway are my favorite tracks simply because everybody hates them.

Rhyne Romps at Rockingham

by Tom Moustakas on May 21st, 2013

115
Lionel Calisto (California), pursued by the field, heads off into Turn One at “The Rock.”

After kissing walls last week at Darlington Raceway, the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (fixed setup) traveled to Rockingham Speedway for Week 3 of the season. Races were set for 50 laps around the famed 1.017 mile oval. Located in North Carolina, NASCAR enthusiasts love Rockingham for its nostalgia; the track held Sprint Cup races from 1965 to 2004, and was known for providing good, hard racing. After an eight-year NASCAR hiatus, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returned to “The Rock” in 2012, creating a buzz among fans who were excited to see racing back at Rockingham. Although racing in any higher NASCAR series may not be in its future, iRacers were able to relive the glory days of Rockingham by racing there this past week. Similar to Darlington, [...]

Hamstead Stands Tall in Atlanta

by Dylan Sharman on May 20th, 2013

110
Hamstead emerged from a tense early battle to claim the win at Road Atlanta.

The iRacing.com V8 Supercar Series stayed in the States for Round Two as drivers and teams took to Road Atlanta.  Last week’s record number of 135 drivers was backed up with another 128 sim-racers traveling to Georgia for Week 2. Qualifying was led by Richard Hamstead with a lap at 1:21.044 to grab the pole position with Madison Down just .029s behind. Justin Ruggier and Adrian Stratford would qualify on the second row with Mitchell McLeod and Josh Muggleton from the third row. John Emerson and Shaun Kelly started from the fourth row with Brad Ryan and Matthew Hill rounding-out the top 10 qualifiers. Hamstead led the field into Turn One for the first time and, with Down hung-out on the outside, Ruggier was able to sneak by and move [...]

Late Models Tap the Inner Irwindale

by Ray Kingsbury on May 17th, 2013

91
Steven Burnett as he crosses the line in his Late Model at Irwindale’s Inner Oval.

For Week Two the NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Series headed to Irwindale Speedway’s “Inner” configuration.  Irwindale is considered the home of short track racing in the Los Angeles area and surely the Late Model boys would not disappoint. The track is a four-turn oval with zero degrees of banking, just a third of a mile long but plenty long enough to ensure some action with sim-racers taking their tire-hungry Chevy Monte Carlos to the track. On this flat track, who could best keep their tires within a reasonable heat range, in both the front and the rear? The week’s 2874 strength of field race found Bill Tomer on the pole position followed by Jay Walker, Clay Jones, Raymond Emmons, and Simon Morrsion.  Tomer would go on to lead 13 laps [...]

Earning Their Stripes

by Chris Owens on May 17th, 2013

None but the bravest Class B racers accepted the challenge of The Track Too Tough to Tame.

With the restrictor plates gone, the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series headed east to “The Lady in Black,” aka Darlington Raceway in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina for the second week of the season.  Darlington is known for its tight racing and tight corners.  It’s not often that a driver walks away from a race at Darlington without a scratch on his car.  This old racetrack will reach out and give even the best sim racers a “Darlington Stripe.” With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Darlington generally has the lowest turn-out of the season.  Rather than risk a loss of Safety Rating, many drivers opt to sit the week out.  While a majority of drivers were sitting on the sidelines, 164 sim-racers took to the 1.366 [...]

Hockaday Tops at ‘Dega

by Chris Owens on May 13th, 2013

88
More than 700 NiCBS sim-racers answered the call at Talladega.

With Season One of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series in the books, drivers and teams took a week to get rested and ready for the second season of 2013.  The biggest and baddest race track of them all lay ahead for everyone: Talladega Superspeedway in eastern Alabama.  Talladega provides everyone with a chance to win, so it’s no surprise to see over 700 sim-racers compete in Week One. Randy Hockaday would lay claim to the biggest race of the week, the weekly Strength of Field race on Friday night.  Hockaday took home 358 points for the win and the overall points lead following Talladega.  inRacingNews’ own Tom Moustakas crossed the line just .052 second behind Hockaday, earning  Moustakas 343 points for his runner-up finish.  Carl Taylor finished third with [...]

Majeski Masters USA International

by Ray Kingsbury on May 12th, 2013

Howell, Burnett, and Kurdziel battle at the half way point of the 2514 SoF race.

Sim-racers have a unique opportunity to race at USA International Speedway, a track with a short yet eventful history. In its one and a half decade of existence, USA International Speedway hosted various series and was once a popular testing ground for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Though the now defunct track simply remains as an open lot, like Australia’s Oran Park, it lives-on – virtually — thanks to iRacing.com. The .75 mile concrete oval with turns banked at 14 degrees is one of the few tracks that perfectly suited the opening week of the NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Series. This week we decided to shift our focus away from the Strength of Field race and towards another Strength of Field race which had some of the most competitive driving [...]

Welcome Pro iRacers

by David Phillips on May 4th, 2013

467
10 of the top finishers in the 2013 S1 NiCAS qualify for the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series.

iRacing announced the first wave of new qualifiers for the 2013 iRacing.com Road Pro Series and NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series.  The twenty qualifiers — ten from each series — are the top ten points finishers not already holding a Pro or World Championship license from the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (open setup) and iRacing.com Grand Prix Series  in 2013 Season 1.  Ten more sim-racers from each series will be earn Pro licenses in S2 and S3 before the 2013 NiPS and iRPS commence in Season 4. The 10 to earn road Pro licenses include Olli Pahkala, Yuho Abe, Rocco Barone, Isaac Price, Jörn Jens, Fabio do Carmo, Ricardo Castro ledo, Alex Simpson, Troy Schulz and Antoine Higelin.   Their oval counterparts are led by Dylan Duval along with Brandon Atkinson, [...]

iRacer Profile: Dylan Duval

Racing always has and always will be a numbers game.  Lap times and speeds, points races and championships, chassis set-ups, engine settings, gear ratios, margin of victory . . . you name it, if it counts in racing, there’s a number attached to it. And when it comes to racing, no number matters more than One.  Whether it’s a 24 hour race or short sprint, a qualifying or practice session, the whole point of the exercise is to be Number One. With 154 wins in 868 starts on iRacing, Halifax Nova Scotia’s Dylan Duval is certainly no stranger to Number One.  But he earned a unique first in 2013 Season One when he took ten wins from 30 starts to finish Numero Uno in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series [...]

Skip Barber 2013 S1 Review

by Kenneth O'Keefe on April 27th, 2013

245
Predictably, 2013 S1 of the iRacing.com Skip Barber Race Series produced robust competition.

After visiting Oran Raceway Park and Suzuka for the final two weeks, the 2013 Season 1 iRacing.com Skip Barber Race Series has come to a close.  As drivers test the changes to the car and prepare for next season, we at inRacingNews had the chance to catch-up with the top three sim-racers in last season’s championship. Overall champion Kenneth O’Keefe was very happy with his efforts this season.  We asked him a few questions. inRacingNews: How do you feel about your season as a whole, what could you have done better? Kenneth: At the start of the season I did not plan to fight for the championship.  I raced about 40 races within the first two weeks at Jefferson and Sebring.  At the end of Week 2 I decided to [...]

Majeski, the Late Models Maestro

by Ray Kingsbury on April 26th, 2013

145

Lying in the Estrella Mountains in the sparsely populated Arizona desert is something that in itself is very alive: Phoenix International Raceway.  PIR is the beating heart at the center of the beastly desert and the roar of the engines at one of NASCAR’s finest racing facilities can be heard for miles around. Though the NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Series would not literally be tackling these dunes, it certainly would tackle the mecca of auto racing in the west. With its 10-12 degree progressive banking in Turns One and Two as well as a varying embankment of the same measures down the back stretch, PIR features a design that is unlike any other race track. Turn Three and Four are completely different, featuring eight and nine degrees of banking, with [...]

Down’s Half-Dozen

by Dylan Sharman on April 24th, 2013

120
Down leads the field through the Moto Course chicane.

Round 12 of the iRacing.com V8 Supercar Series headed to Japan for the season finale, with teams tackling a new layout at Suzuka International Racing Course. The drivers took-on the challenge of the “Moto Course” which, compared to the GP circuit, features one additional chicane as well as a different chicane at the end of the lap. Coming into the final round Madison Down enjoyed a 26 point lead over Justin Ruggier in the championship standings, but Down’s drop week was 16 points less than Ruggier’s and, as iRacers know, anything can happen within a split second. Down couldn’t have asked for a better starting spot, as he took pole position with a lap at 2:07.967, just a shade more than a tenth quicker than championship rival – and fellow [...]

Mustangs Rock Road Atlanta

by Jeff Jacobs on April 24th, 2013

64
A herd of Mustangs run nose-to-tail through Road Atlanta’s challenging Esses.

The final week of the iRacing.com Mustang Cup series featured the heart pounding elevation changes and tricky curves at Road Atlanta, producing thrilling victories and agonizing losses even for the top contenders.  The top Mustang FR500S driver for week was Sean Maher who claimed six wins and five runner-up finishes in 11 races.  Maher often found himself in close battles with Tony Autridge, who claimed two wins and three second-place finishes of his own. Some of the top performers all season struggled at tricky Road Atlanta.  After turning in multiple weeks of undefeated online racing – including weeks with eight or nine wins – Vedran Broz claimed only three wins in Atlanta, with racing incidents keeping him off the podium in three other races.  Patrick Bieri needed three tries before [...]

Another Visit to Belgium

by Austin Hartenfels on April 23rd, 2013

87
Mixed class racing at its best: Pontiacs, Mazdas and VWs rush down the long front stretch of Circuit Zolder to start a Grand Touring Cup race.

Season One of 2013 is coming to a close. That means championship implications will play a role in every series’ points standings. The iRacing.com Grand Touring Cup points have been tight throughout the season in all three classes and it may be even tighter during Week 11. iRacing made sure to incorporate tracks into the schedule with all this championship stuff in mind, so they kindly inserted Belgium’s Circuit Zolder into the Grand Touring Cup’s schedule for Week 11. To say 2.492 mile Circuit Zolder has tricky twists and turns would be an understatement. The circuit’s layout often frustrates sim-racers due to its extremely technical chicanes, long straightaways and rather strange pit exit. In the Pontiac Solstice class, Joni Bäckman (Finland) prevailed over Ilham Halabi (International) and Stephen Warcup (Western [...]

Class B Action in the Lone Star State

by Chris Owens on April 18th, 2013

49
"Texas Motor Speedway is known for its high speeds and tricky corner exits . . ."

Week 11 of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series headed to the Lone Star State for the final mile and half week of the season.  Texas Motor Speedway is known for its high speeds and tricky corner exits and would be sure to provide a challenge to all drivers.  442 sim-racers would start a race during the week with series points leader Simon Crochart leading them in the weekly points race. Crochart amassed 268 points for the week following his lone race.  John Schweickart was second for the week with 258 points in two starts.  Tom Moustakas was third followed by Ashley Miller in fourth and Brandon Buie rounding-out the top five. Crochart led the series in qualifying for the week, taking the overall pole position with a time of [...]

Rave Reviews for New Radicals Slate

by Katier Scott on April 17th, 2013

Phillip Island . . . perfectly suited to the Radical SR8.

Despite a car that has been improved season on season by iRacing and a car that regularly has sim-racing being positive about it when they try it, this season has seen the series struggling for participation. As a road series the competition for drivers is fierce and many series saw a dip as drivers looked elsewhere for their drives; however one thing that effected the season was the track selection. On paper the Radical season 1 schedule didn’t look bad.  It certainly didn’t get the same reaction as some series, but drivers quickly decided they disliked the first few tracks and voted with their feet. The drivers who have remained loyal to this classic little V8 prototype style sports car are reacting positively to a new schedule, released last Tuesday, [...]

iRNC Invades Lime Rock Park Chicane

by Joe Pisciotta, Jr. on April 17th, 2013

152
In his only appearance at Lime Rock, Dolezal leads Christian Winter and the rest of the iRNC field into Big Bend.

The inRacingNews Challenge Rookie Series made the trip northeast to Connecticut in Week 11 for Lime Rock Park’s challenging 1.54 mile Chicane layout.   It was the second trip to LRP this season for the multi-class series and, as sim-racers are aware, misjudging your entry into the Chicane means you’ll spin right through it resulting in a penalty.  LRP played a significant role in the point standings this week as some new faces emerged to contend with veterans for the 2013 Season 1 Championship. Pontiac Solstice Christoph Schön (DE-AT-CH) continues to lead the overall standings in Solstice.  Early in the week he told the inRacing News, “the Chicane is not my favorite layout so I might not race here, but I’ll see what my rivals do.”  Well his competition put-up some [...]

Class B Rocks

by Chris Owens on April 17th, 2013

Week 10 brought the NiCBS to "The Rock."

Rockingham Speedway played host to the tenth week of the season for the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series.  A fixture on the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series for years, Rockingham was brought back to light by Andy Hillenburg and staff in 2008.  134 sim-racers would take to the high banked mile oval for Week 10. Brandon Buie would lead the series after a tough week.  Buie collected 286 points in his one start during the week, bettering second placed Brad Patton who earned 268 points in two starts.  Series points leader Simon Crochart was third with 250 points in his lone start of the week, while Steven Eszenyi and Anthony Kernich rounded-out the top five in points at Rockingham. Simon Crochart topped the week’s qualifiers with a 23.099 second [...]

The NASCAR iRacing Road to Pro: Week 8 of 8

by Brennan Mercer on April 16th, 2013

243
It's make or break time in the quest for oval Pro licenses.

Editor’s note:  Brennan Mercer has been at it again: toting-up actual and potential points  for the 2013 Season One NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (open setup).  As the top ten points finishers not already holding a Pro or Pro/WC license from Seasons 1, 2 and 3 in the Class “A” open setup NASCAR series qualify for a Pro license, a spot in the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series and a chance to qualify for the 2014 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship, there’s a lot at stake.  Here is Brennan’s unofficial analysis of who’s in, who’s out and who’s in the mix for the remaining spots as the NiCAS heads into the homestretch of 2013 Season 1. With the Road to Pro going through the Lone Star state, NASCAR iRacing.com Class [...]

Fritsche Closes Gap; Lotus Falter

by Katier Scott on April 12th, 2013

Popular and challenging, Road Atlanta hosted Week 10 of the CTC.

Road Atlanta is a popular and challenging track, with the sweeps early in the lap being both exciting and testing in equal amounts. In all 100 Lotus 79 drivers took on the challenge over the course of 10 races during Week 10 of the Classic Teams Challenge in 2013 Season One. Gernot Fritsche took full advantage of the absence of the championship leading Nicklas Lindqvist to win twice, from two starts, and take the maximum points possible during the week. Unfortunately, a comparatively low SOF in the main race of the week limited the former champion’s inroads, but he still closed to within 160 points of the championship lead. That is a mountain to climb in the final weeks at Suzuka and Oran Park, and it likely means Lindqvist is [...]

Interview with Fanaleds’ Gerben Bol

Fanaleds is a free application that sends telemetry data to your hardware such as an led display or it can even simulate the rumble of your pedal which would be produced by ABS.  Fanaleds transmits data such as sector and lap times to your led screen and can also send information such as fuel usage, turbo pressure, rotation per minute, currently engaged gear, as well as the speed at which your car is traveling.  Fanaleds is very similar to programs such as Slimax and Slizee, however it is free and covers multiple games and titles across all spectrums. – Matt Kingsbury MK:    Who are you, what was your first sim, and what inspired you to create Fanaleds? GB:    Hi. My name is Gerben Bol, I am a 19 year old [...]
