Fans injured in Daytona crash
February 23rd, 2013
A last-lap crash in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway has caused injuries among the crowd after the front end of one of the cars was torn off and pierced the debris fencing. In the race to the finish line in the 300-mile event, reigning Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski and Regan Smith clashed at the front. This triggered a multi-car pile-up behind in which series debutant Kyle Larson’s car took off and struck the catch fencing, ripping away the entire front end of his car

Mikkelsen holds on as Kopecky gains
September 10th, 2011
Andreas Mikkelsen’s Mecsek Rally lead is down to just eight seconds over Jan Kopecky after the Czech driver launched a determined attack through Saturday’s final three stages. The second run through Alsomocsolad – which should have happened later tonight – was cancelled due to the spectator issues seen there in the morning, meaning the leg concluded with SS7. Works Skoda driver Kopecky was quickest on all three stages that did take place, allowing him to reduce Mikkelsen’s lead from 14 seconds at the midday service to 8.7s overnight
Mallya sure Indian GP is on schedule
August 8th, 2011
Force India team boss Vijay Mallya is confident that the essential facilities required for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix will be complete in plenty of time before the 30 October race. FIA technical delegate Charlie Whiting recently delayed his final inspection of the New Delhi venue until the start of September, but Mallya said he had no concerns about the core elements of the build – while conceding that some aspects would be a race against time. “The promoters of the race, who are also the owners of the track, are very confident that everything will be ready,” he said.

Singapore seeks "must-have" F1 status
September 22nd, 2010
The Singapore Grand Prix may have already become one of the most popular events of the season, but race officials say they are pushing hard to make it a ‘must-have’ part of the Formula 1 calendar in the next few years. F1′s only proper night-race has proved a huge success since its inaugural event in 2008 – getting praise from the paddock, media drivers and fans who pack the Marina Bay circuit. But rather than sit back and feel it has done enough to secure its future, race organisers say they are going to keep up their efforts to try and make the event even more successful.
