Marussia makes changes after crash

Marussia will be able to continue its pre-season testing programme at Jerez on Wednesday despite suffering a suspension failure that caused Max Chilton’s crash. The Formula 1 rookie encountered the failure when flat out on the approach to Dry Sack corner during the afternoon. The team confirmed to AUTOSPORT that it will run on Wednesday after some modifications are made to the rear suspension overnight to prevent a repeat of the problem.

Chilton gets Abu Dhabi practice outing

Max Chilton will take part in opening practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when he drives for the Marussia team. The Briton, who was signed as a reserve driver for the team earlier this season , will make his debut in a competitive race weekend environment at the Yas Marina circuit next week. Chilton will replace Charles Pic during the session, the Frenchman returning to the cockpit for second practice
Tech-Speed to make BTCC return

Tech-Speed Motorsport is set to return to the British Touring Car Championship with a turbocharged version of its Chevrolet Cruze. The team ran Paul O’Neill and John George last year, but was unable to put a deal together for the start of 2012. Lotus thinks it can emerge as third team

Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean are ready to emerge as McLaren and Red Bull Racing’s main threat for victory, reckon their Lotus team, if the duo can finally enjoy a trouble-free weekend. The Lotus E20 has shown promising potential in the first two races of the year – especially in qualifying – but it has not been able to prove just how good it is in the races yet.

Fernando Alonso says he is delighted he will share the track with Kimi Raikkonen next year, following the Finn’s return to Formula 1 with Lotus. Raikkonen, who left the sport at the end of 2009, has secured a two-year deal with Lotus Renault to return to grand prix racing in 2012. Alonso believes the Finn’s comeback is good news for the sport
Raikkonen to test Peugeot’s LMP1

It is understood that it could lead to a possible outing in next year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, with Peugeot keen to evaluate Raikkonen’s speed in the car. Greaves delighted with LMP2 win

Graves Motorsport duo Tom Kimber-Smith and Olivier Lombard were elated with their performance in Le Mans, after their Zytek-Nissan dominated the LMP2 class to win by more than seven laps. Britain’s Kimber-Smith, who first raced in Le Mans in 2007 with Panoz but hadn’t been back since, insisted the team’s strategy of a low-risk approach to the race had paid dividends.
Valles eyeing F2 after Valencia test

Adrian Valles is considering joining Formula 2 next season after testing the car at Valencia recently. The 24-year-old Spaniard won last year’s Superleague title for Liverpool, is a former race winner in Formula Renault 3.5 and has also raced in GP2. He has been without a regular drive this season and says he is seriously considering F2 for 2011
Rossi was in frame for Ferrari drive

Valentino Rossi has revealed that he did speak to Ferrari about the possibility of racing for the team at the Italian Grand Prix. The MotoGP champion had considered a switch to F1 with Ferrari a few years ago before committing himself to motorbikes – and was once again linked with a move as the Maranello-outfit sought a replacement for Luca Badoer as stand-in for Felipe Massa. However, Rossi said that the lack of preparation on his neck and the limited opportunity to get mileage in the car, allied to his current title battle in motorcycle racing, meant he decided to turn his back on the idea.
