Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. I was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1988 and moved to Midland, Michigan when I was two years old. I stayed there until third grade when I moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan and now I currently live in Naperville, IL where I'm attending Metea Valley High School as a 9th grader. In the past, I have participated in soccer and this year I plan on joining swimming or water polo. My family includes my 15 year old sister, a 7 year old sister and my mom and dad. I have been writing since 6th grade and have participated in many writing contests in my school and have received several awards for writing.
My fascination for motorsports began when I was nine. The first NASCAR race I watched on TV was the 2009 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, won by Kasey Kahne. My favorite NASCAR drivers are Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmie Johnson. I have watched all the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2010. I currently have three wins on iRacing, two of them in the Nationwide car at Daytona and one in the Street stocks at Charlotte. My favorite car and type of track on iRacing is the Nationwide Series (B Class) car and superspeedways.

I was born in Adelaide and we moved-out for Angle Vale for a few years until I was about 7 years old, when we moved to the Barossa Valley where I live now. I'm 19 years old and currently traveling back and forth weekly as I'm studying for a Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology.

I've always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I've won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.

Nathan's passion for motorsport first began in the late 1980s, captivated by the season in which Aryton Senna won his first F1 title with McLaren. Over the years his interest widened to include the British Touring Car Championship, World Rally Championship, NASCAR and various other forms of motorsport. Nathan began sim-racing in the mid 1990s using games developed by Papyrus. He later moved onto SimBim simulations such as GTR, GTR2 and GTR Evolution and has most recently joined the iRacing community.

When he's not working or sim racing, Nathan enjoys spending time and relaxing with his family. Other hobbies include going to festivals, tinkering with his car and doing up his house.

Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I have always had a serious passion for cars and motorsports. Hoping one day to become an automotive journalist for a magazine, I constantly crave the exciting competition that comes along with racing and sim-racing. Having participated in a mere test session in a Legends car at Old Dominion Speedway, I have not been able to get into any real-life competition . . . yet.

As a sim racer, my interests date back to "GTR Evolution." My goal is to have fun and win some races. I made it to Oval Pro in 2010, but did not become very successful. I enjoy any mixed road racing competition and love racing the Silverados around almost any track.

  • Scott Kelly
    Contributing Writer
Born and raised in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area, Scott Kelly has had a love for motorsports ever since his father did the right thing by introducing auto racing into his life. No longer able to quench his need for speed by spectating NASCAR races on TV and watching dirt track stars slide around local tracks, Kelly eventually picked-up sim racing in his teens, wheeling cars found in Ratbag Games' "Dirt Track Racing" and "World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars" while also becoming introduced into multiple Papyrus sim-racing series. Joining the iRacing ranks in late 2011, Kelly set his sights on the short track racing he was familiar with, focusing on the sprint car, while also driving the Legends and street stock in multiple iRacing.com leagues.

Kelly brings not just his enthusiasm for racing to the highest-rated motorsports simulation, but also his B.A. degree in English; he covers the action seen in the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, while also placing the spotlight on various leagues within the service. Enjoying his start to a career in motorsports journalism, Kelly also doesn't mind visiting victory lane from time-to-time.

I was born in Florence, South Carolina in 1989 and have lived here my entire life. I've been around racing since I was a young kid watching with my dad on Sundays. In 2009 and found my local track, Florence Motor Speedway and started working for them as a PR guy the same year. At the end of that season, I started writing for RACE22.com, a Late Model Stock Car news site. In 2010, I picked up my first DSLR camera and started shooting races. To this day, I've experienced some of the best races from behind the camera.

I've been with the iRacing service since its public beta in 2008, back when the top oval car was the Late Model. I've been in over 500 races on the service with 70+ wins on both oval and road. My favorite car on the service is the Chevrolet Silverado. Darlington Raceway and Concord Speedway are my favorite tracks simply because everybody hates them.

Goke and Sanford Go Big in Texas

Brandon Trost leads a pack of IndyCars into Turn Three at TMS.

The sixth week of the iRacing.com IndyCar Oval racing took place at Texas Motor Speedway, “The Great American Speedway.” The drivers took to the venue’s 1.5 mile oval where they would battle spinning their tires on restarts coming through the quad oval. The corners are banked at 24 degrees and provide a tremendous amount of grip for the IndyCars, allowing the leader to control the bottom lane and making for minimum passing opportunities. The iRacing.com IndyCar Oval Open Series 3150 Strength of Field race saw 19 drivers register for the event. Home town hero Brad Sanford (Texas) blasted his #8 Dallara to the win leading 20 of 100 laps after starting from the third position. The race itself was calm and saw just three caution flags for 12 laps and [...]

Week 6 Texas P1

Texas Motor Speedway played host to Week Six of the NASCAR iRacing Class C Fixed Series and a hometown hero was able to make his way to victory lane during the week’s top Strength of Field event. 2,202 sim racers took the track for at least one race during the week, each looking for a trip to Texas’ victory lane, but only one could lay claim to victory. The 1.5-mile speedway provides some of the closest racing that iRacing has to offer, but this week it provided more of a challenge than usual. Since this series runs a fixed setup (everyone has the same setup), some drivers had concerns that the setup was too loose, which made the Silverado more difficult to drive compared to other big speedways on the [...]

Castro claimed the top SoF race at NHMS from ? and ?

The fifth week of the iRacing.com IndyCar Oval Series racing took place at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The one mile oval – aka The Magic Mile — saw 747 sim-racers take part in the week as they all fought to master the top lane passing or take advantage of other people’s mistakes and earn a victory at NHMS. The iRacing.com IndyCar Oval Fixed Series strength of field of 2734 saw 23 drivers attempting to wrestle for the points lead. Competitors learned the hard way that cautions breed cautions as only seven cars finished on the lead lap. The opening laps saw minor shuffling of positions through passing, mistakes, and wrecks. The 55 lap race saw a fastest lap time of 22.511 and an average lap time of 40.093 due [...]

Show ‘Em What You’ve Got

So far, only four drivers have visited the Winners Circle in the 2013 NiSWC . . . and Ottinger has back-to-back wins to his credit.

Heading to Darlington Raceway on Tuesday, the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship is off to a hectic start.  Series leaders Tyler D Hudson and Brian Schoenburg are still looking for their first wins; likewise two-time defending champion Ray Alfalla, who has clawed his way back into the reckoning after opening the campaign with 42nd and 36th place finishes in two of the first three events.  Meanwhile, Daytona winner Adam Gilliland finds himself P8 . . . three better than Phoenix winner (and 2012 championship runner-up) Michael Conti, who failed to qualify for the season opener. All the more remarkable, then, that just five races into the young season Nick Ottinger already has a pair of wins to his credit, with back-to-back triumphs at Texas Motor Speedway and Richmond International [...]

Ottinger Steals Richmond for Second Straight Win

In the right place at the right time, Ottinger scored his second straight NiSWC triumph..

After the smoke cleared from the Richmond carnage, Nick Ottinger found himself in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship victory lane for the second straight race.  Unlike two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, where Ottinger had the dominant car from start to finish, his victory at Richmond International Raceway was achieved with good strategy and some timely accident avoidance. “Two in a row! Wow, I had a great car for the long run,” said Ottinger. “I really can’t explain how we survived it all; however we had the right strategy and it kept playing into our favor late in the race.” Ottinger started twenty-second and wasted no time cutting his way through the field. By the time the first caution flew on Lap 48, Ottinger had already cracked the [...]

Week 10 brought the NiCBS to "The Rock."

Rockingham Speedway played host to the tenth week of the season for the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series.  A fixture on the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series for years, Rockingham was brought back to light by Andy Hillenburg and staff in 2008.  134 sim-racers would take to the high banked mile oval for Week 10. Brandon Buie would lead the series after a tough week.  Buie collected 286 points in his one start during the week, bettering second placed Brad Patton who earned 268 points in two starts.  Series points leader Simon Crochart was third with 250 points in his lone start of the week, while Steven Eszenyi and Anthony Kernich rounded-out the top five in points at Rockingham. Simon Crochart topped the week’s qualifiers with a 23.099 second [...]

Ottinger Puts on a Show at Texas

by Jason Lofing on April 17th, 2013

Nick Ottinger was in dominant form at Texas Motor Speedway.

Nick Ottinger dominated Round Four of the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship from start to finish at Texas Motor Speedway Tuesday night, cruising to a comfortable victory over two time champion Ray Alfalla. Ottinger, who started from the pole, led 128 of 167 laps and was only passed for position once on the track as the race went caution-free. Ottinger’s victory makes it four different winners thus far in the 2013 NiSWC season. “Feels great to break through and get a win! Starting up front helped, however, we knew the car was stout and had a blast going caution-free,” said Ottinger after picking up his third career NiSWC win. Ottinger beat Alfalla to the checkers by 3.4 seconds, with Marcus Lindsey finishing third, six seconds behind. Teammates Chad Laughton and [...]

It's make or break time in the quest for oval Pro licenses.

Editor’s note:  Brennan Mercer has been at it again: toting-up actual and potential points  for the 2013 Season One NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (open setup).  As the top ten points finishers not already holding a Pro or Pro/WC license from Seasons 1, 2 and 3 in the Class “A” open setup NASCAR series qualify for a Pro license, a spot in the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series and a chance to qualify for the 2014 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship, there’s a lot at stake.  Here is Brennan’s unofficial analysis of who’s in, who’s out and who’s in the mix for the remaining spots as the NiCAS heads into the homestretch of 2013 Season 1. Conti Regains Form in Phoenix

by Jason Lofing on April 3rd, 2013

Conti celebrates his first win of the season and his re-emergence as a NiSWC title contender.

Michael Conti’s first two NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship races had all the makings of a sophomore slump. Shockingly, he failed to qualify for the season opener at Daytona, then could not crack the top 20 the following week at Las Vegas. Mired deep in the standings, Conti needed a breakthrough . . . and he got one in a big way last night by leading 70 of 156 laps and winning at Phoenix International Raceway. On a track that is among the most difficult to pass on the entire NiSWC circuit, Conti’s pit crew kept him in the fight, knocking-off quick pit stops every time the Main Performance Chevy needed service. Once the crew did their job, the driver did the rest en route to the victory. “This is [...]

Finland Wins 2012 World Cup of iRacing

Finland broke DE-AT-CH’s stranglehold on the World Cup of iRacing, dethroning the only champions the competition has ever known with impressive performances at Road America and Texas Motor Speedway in Saturday’s 2012 World Cup of iRacing Finals.  Further emphasizing the depth of competition, Brasil finished runner-up in the online racing event with DE-AT-CH taking third just ahead of UK/Ireland. Although two-time iRacing.com Grand Prix Series World Champion Greger Huttu paced the Finnish squad with a win at Road America in his HPD-ARX-01c, this was a team victory; witness the fact that six of the top ten finishers at Road America represented Finland. And while Anderson Paes and Bruno Noronha ran to a one-two for Brasil at TMS, five Finnish sim-racers cracked the top ten in the Lone Star state, headed [...]

The line-up for the 2012 World Cup of iRacing Finals is set following Saturday’s World Cup Tournament.  Three time champions DE-AT-CH led the qualifiers, edging Finland by 17 points (756 to 739) with Brasil (709) coming-in just ahead of fourth and final qualifier UK/Ireland (701).  The four clubs will meet again this coming Saturday (January 19) to determine the 2012 World Cup of iRacing champion in two races that will be broadcast on Glacier TV. Saturday’s action at Road America (HPD ARX-01C) and Texas Motor Speedway (Chevy Impala Class B) produced a total of more than 1,200 starts among 800 iRacers from the 21 clubs that qualified for the World Cup of iRacing Tournament. Finland (391) topped the points getters at Road America ahead of DE-AT-CH (378), but DE-AT-CH matched [...]

Morse Tops in Texas

The 2012 S4 NiCAS (Fixed) schedule opened at the Great American Speedway.

he NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (Fixed Setup) headed to Dallas, Fort Worth Texas for 2012 Season 4 Week 1. The drivers of iRacing took their talents to the Great American Speedway (aka Texas Motor Speedway), a track provides a lot of racing room and, not surprisingly, usually produces great side-by-side racing. A total of 554 sim-racers competed at least once at the Great American Speedway. The three drivers with the most starts included Dylan C Jones, who claimed top honors by racking-up a dozen starts, followed by Billy Angstadt and Anthony Yates2 with 11 races each. In the wins column we had a tie between Ian Hann and Billy Angstadt with three victories apiece.  With 245 circuits out front, Angstadt led the most laps, topping his closest competitor — [...]

Laughton Pads NiPS Points Lead at PIR

Laughton made it two for three in the NiPS besting Crawford and ? in a crash-filled race at Phoenix.

Chad Laughton grabbed his second NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series victory in three starts, winning Tuesday’s wreck-filled race at Phoenix International Raceway. Laughton started third and gained the lead during pit stops and was never passed on the track. He led 97 of 156 laps and clearly had the best car on the long runs, able to pull away from the rest of the field. Jared Crawford finished second, right in front of Jake Stergios who had a very strong run to finish third. Dustin Montgomery backed up his win at Texas last week with a solid fourth place run while Kenneth OKeefe rounded-out the top five. Carson Downs started on pole, giving him the early advantage on a track that has proven to be one of the toughest to pass [...]

Everything is bigger in Texas! While that slogan may be not be appropriate for some things, it is appropriate in describing the speeds seen when the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series heads to the Lone Star State for some high speed action at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway. Week One of Season Four started off with a bang for Malik Ray (Carolina) who was able to claim the top spot in the weekly standings. Over 1,100 sim racers competed in an official race during Week One, but after the smoke settled, Ray took home the victory in the week’s high Strength of Field race. The race took place on Sunday morning when Ray was able to destroy the field by 3.416 seconds over second place driver Corey A Wolf (New [...]

Texas Motor Speedway is one of the most popular tracks within the iRacing.com service because of its high speeds and great racing. 1,641 sim racers attempted to conquer the 1.5-mile beast located in Fort Worth, Texas, during Week One of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (Fixed Setup), but after seven days of full-throttle, hard-nosed racing, it was Jordan Hightower (Mid-South) who came out on top in more ways than one. While Hightower earned the most championship points for Week One, he was not able to win the week’s highest Strength of Field race. That honor went to two-time NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship champion Ray Alfalla (Florida), who was the victor of the 3802 SoF race. 2012 Season 4 of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series kicked-off at the ultra fast Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.  As drivers look to start the season off on the right foot, most just hope to survive and move on to the next week.  In total, 805 drivers ran a race, while 245 sim-racers posted qualifying times at TMS. Ryan Luza (Texas) started his season off on the right foot, laying down a blistering 28.799 second lap time to claim the overall pole for the week.   Justin Douglas (Northwest) would clock in just a tick slower at 28.814 seconds, with Simon Crochart (France), David Cater (Carolina) and Allen Provenzano (Illinois) rounding out the top five fastest qualifiers.
