May 1st, 2013
Formula 1′s high-degrading tyres have turned the sport into a ‘thinking man’s game’, reckons McLaren sporting director Sam Michael. Pirelli’s move to more aggressive rubber compounds for this year has put a higher premium on tyre management, with most teams accepting that getting on top of degradation is now the key to success

Fernando Alonso has been voted as the driver of the year by Formula 1′s team bosses in AUTOSPORT’s annual team principals’ top ten poll.
US Saturday quotes: Force India
November 17th, 2012
Nico Hulkenberg – 8th: “I’m happy to get another top ten result and it’s been a good effort by the whole team, especially given where we were yesterday evening. My lap in Q3 was not too bad, but I was a little compromised by a Williams in the last couple of corners, so maybe there was a little bit more to come
Keselowski glad to ‘survive’ race
October 29th, 2012
Brad Keselowski is glad to have come out ‘alive’ in the championship from Sunday’s Chase round at Martinsville , despite losing the points lead to Jimmie Johnson. The Penske driver overcame a poor qualifying in which he finished 32nd to eventually break into the top ten in the deciding stages, where he made a late gamble to stay on the track when most of the leaders pitted ahead of him for fresh rubber.
Maldonado sure Williams will rebound
October 25th, 2012
Pastor Maldonado is confident that Williams has identified the problems that caused it to produce what he labeled as the team’s worst race of the season in Korea. The Grove-based outfit endured one of its least competitive weekends at Yeongam , with neither Maldonado nor team-mate Bruno Senna reaching the top ten in qualifying
Senna expects strong outing in Singapore
September 17th, 2012
Bruno Senna thinks Williams can look forward to one of its more competitive outings in Singapore this weekend. The high-downforce nature of the Marina Bay circuit should play well to the strengths of the FW34. And, after Senna scored a single point for the team at the Italian Grand Prix a fortnight ago, he is positive that an even bigger haul should be possible this time out.
Evans goes fastest in first practice
September 7th, 2012
GP3 Series championship leader Mitch Evans set the pace in Friday’s practice for the final rounds at Monza this weekend. The 18-year-old New Zealander moved to the top of the times halfway into the 45 minute session, before dropping down the field as first Tamas Pal Kiss and then one of Evans’s title challengers Aaro Vainio went quicker.
Mallya: More luck needed for podiums
July 16th, 2012
Vijay Mallya believes his Force India team will still need some good luck before it can convert the speed it has shown in recent races into potential podium places. The Silverstone-based outfit has delivered some promising pace in the last few events, but hopes of it moving forward from its fifth and seventh places in Valencia were dashed by misfortune in the British Grand Prix. Paul di Resta was forced to retire after a first lap collision with Romain Grosjean, while Nico Hulkenberg lost out on points after his wet-weather set-up proved not ideal for the dry conditions.
McNish wary of Toyota threat
June 13th, 2012
Audi hybrid driver Allan McNish says he is wary of the threat Toyota poses in the Le Mans 24 Hours in spite of the fact that the Japanese manufacturer’s TS030 having not yet been raced. Toyota ran for the first time alongside rivals during the Le Mans test at the beginning of June and ended the day less than 1.5s off the pace of the three Audi R18s in front of it
Maldonado expected strong qualifying
May 12th, 2012
Pastor Maldonado is not surprised to have been so fast during qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton tops first practice in Bahrain
April 20th, 2012
Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the opening free practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix ahead of world champion Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull and Paul di Resta’s Force India. In a fairly uneventful 90 minutes of running, the McLaren driver set a time of 1m33.572s in the middle of the session and remained unchallenged thereafter. As expected, the teams were greeted with warm track temperatures – 27 degrees C and rising – but just as predictable was the surface layer of sand on the asphalt that prompted one team to dismissively say the morning’s runs as nothing more than ‘dust surveys’
Di Resta doubtful of breaking into Q3
March 23rd, 2012
Paul di Resta believes Force India will have a tough time reaching Q3 in tomorrow’s qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Scot finished in 13th position in second practice after losing valuable track time because of a problem with his brakes. Di Resta said the car was feeling more competitive than in Australia last weekend, but admitted reaching the top ten in qualifying will be difficult.

The annual team principals’ verdict is compiled by getting the top ten driver rankings of every boss, which are kept secret, and then converting their rankings into the F1 points’ system (25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1). November 11th, 2011

India Saturday quotes: Mercedes
October 29th, 2011
Nico Rosberg – 7th: “I’m pleased that we made a step forward today but we could perhaps have finished higher. In Q1, I hit a kerb quite heavily and damaged the floor which lost some of the car’s downforce for the rest of qualifying. I was on my quickest lap at the end of Q3 but unfortunately I had to slow down for the yellow flag after Felipe’s incident so that cost me some time.
