Debris caused Hamilton’s tyre drama
April 20th, 2013
Lewis Hamilton’s left-rear tyre failure during Saturday morning practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix, which led to his five-place grid penalty , was caused by metal debris, according to Pirelli. The problem led to suspension and gearbox damage, as confirmed by a Mercedes statement. This forced Mercedes to change Hamilton’s gearbox, which was being used for the fourth weekend of its run of five, leading to the penalty.
Andretti pins hopes on style change
January 15th, 2013
Marco Andretti is optimistic that changes to his driving style will help him to rebound from his worst IndyCar season ever after returning to testing at Sebring earlier this week. In a year where fellow Andretti Autosport driver Ryan Hunter-Reay won the championship , Andretti finished a career-low 16th in the 2012 standings
Ferrari wants driving standards action
September 2nd, 2012
Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali believes the Belgian Grand Prix start accident should spur action on driving standards throughout the Formula 1 feeder series. World championship contenders Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were taken out when reigning GP2 champion Romain Grosjean caused a dramatic crash on the run to La Source on lap one at Spa. The Saubers, which had been the sensations of qualifying, were also caught up in the incident

Maldonado blames Hamilton for crash
June 24th, 2012
Pastor Maldonado said Lewis Hamilton was entirely to blame for their collision in the final moments of the European Grand Prix. Williams driver Maldonado was trying to overtake Hamilton’s McLaren for third place when they came together on the penultimate lap, sending the Briton into the barriers and out of the race. Maldonado said the incident would not have happened if Hamilton had given him more space.

Ferrari pleased with initial progress
February 7th, 2012
Ferrari’s chief designer Nikolas Tombazis says the team was pleased with its first day of running with the new F2012. The Maranello squad was forced to cancel the initial shakedown planned for Fiorano after the unveiling of the car because of the poor weather, and the new singe-seater took to the track for the first time this morning at Jerez. Felipe Massa was in charge of testing duties, the Brazilian completing a total of 69 laps on his way to a discreet ninth fastest time, over three seconds off the pace.
Alonso glad Ferrari went radical
February 5th, 2012
Fernando Alonso says he completely backs Ferrari’s decision to produce a radical 2012 Formula 1 design, and argued that the F2012 can still be considered beautiful. Ferrari’s 2012 contender – launched in Maranello on Friday – features a dramatic step in its nose, pull-rod front suspension, and major aerodynamic and packaging changes over its predecessor.
Heidfeld to stick with forward exhaust
July 23rd, 2011
Renault has reverted to using its forward facing exhaust layout on Nick Heidfeld’s car for the remainder of the German Grand Prix weekend, despite some encouraging results from a new rear design in Friday practice. As AUTOSPORT revealed, Renault wanted to experiment with a Red Bull Racing-style rearward exhaust configuration to see if it would make its blown diffuser more effective and deliver better lap times. A prototype version tried out in a recent straight-line test at Duxford delivered some promising results, and the team elected to further evaluate this version – which is 4kg heavier than it should ideally be because it is not fully made on carbon fibre – on Heidfeld’s car at the Nurburgring
Lorenzo surprised by qualifying pace
June 11th, 2011
Jorge Lorenzo admitted that he had not expected to get so close to pole position for the British Grand Prix after lapping within 0.2 seconds of Casey Stoner’s pole time at Silverstone.

July 9th, 2010
Jarno Trulli believes Pirelli’s return to Formula 1 will have a big impact on the drivers because of the differences in the tyres the Italian manufacturer will use. Pirelli has been chosen as Formula 1′s sole tyre supplier from 2011, when it will replace Japanese company Bridgestone
