Kubica will be hard to beat – Sarrazin

Stephane Sarrazin reckons Robert Kubica will be tough to beat on this week’s Tour de Corse. The two ex-Formula 1 drivers will go head-to-head on the European Rally Championship round in turbocharged Regional Rally Cars. Kubica has led both ERC events he has started to date and has claimed 15 stage wins, but has also crashed out on both occasions
Changes won’t shake order – Pirelli

Pirelli is hopeful that the changes being made to its tyres from the Canadian Grand Prix will not affect the competitive order in Formula 1. After fresh analysis of its products following a four-stop Spanish GP at the weekend, Pirelli has elected to make tweaks to ensure that it returns to its target of two-stop races

Pirelli has elected to make just one minor change to its hard compound tyre for the remainder of the season, following a meeting in Milan earlier this week to decide if it needed to revamp its products. Red Bull had championed a push to try and make Pirelli move away from the more aggressive compounds that it introduced at the start of this season. However, a majority of outfits were happy with what Pirelli had produced this season and were eager for the Italian company not to make any major changes .
Bahrain tyre switch not a kneejerk

Pirelli’s decision to switch its compound choice for the Bahrain Grand Prix was made several weeks ago and was not a reaction to what happened in China, AUTOSPORT has learned. Formula 1′s tyre supplier has brought the medium and hard compound to this weekend’s race at Sakhir, having originally intended to use the soft and hard compound for round four of the 2013 Formula 1 world championship
Kopecky expects very strong Kubica

Two-time Canarias Rally winner Jan Kopecky says he doesn’t expect Robert Kubica to have any problem finding a potentially winning pace on this week’s third round of the European Rally Championship. There had been speculation that rally novice Kubica might struggle with making pace notes for what is recognised as one of the toughest rallies in Europe to note, but Kopecky has poured cold water on such talk. Skoda factory driver Kopecky, who is chasing a hat-trick on the Spanish island, has been friends with Kubica since 2006.
Calado tipped as GP2 title threat

M-Sport to race in British GT

The M-Sport World Rally squad will race in the 2013 British GT Championship as it prepares for Bentley’s return to sportscar racing later in the year, AUTOSPORT magazine has revealed. Ford’s long-time World Rally Championship partner will field a solo 2013-spec Audi R8 LMS ultra for former MG factory driver Warren Hughes and Dutch amateur Rembert Berg, starting at the opening round of the series at Oulton Park on April 1. M-Sport will build and run the new Bentley Continental GT3 racer , due to hit the track at the end of the summer, and has put together a programme in the British series in order to learn about circuit racing
DeltaWing seats for Meyrick and Pla

Adrian Sutil believes that he has done all he can to earn a return to Formula 1 following his day of testing with Force India on Thursday. The German returned to the cockpit of a Force India car for the first time since he left the team at the end of the 2011 season, completing 78 laps on his way to setting the eighth fastest time on day three at Barcelona.
La Rocca becomes first Bamboo driver

Roberto la Rocca will race in the GP3 Series this year after becoming the first signing for new team Bamboo Engineering. The 21-year-old Venezuelan is driving for the team this week during official series testing at Estoril the first occasion on which the heavily-modified 2013-spec car has been available to teams. “Roberto has the right attitude and recognises that GP3 will be a steep learning curve,” said team CEO Richard Coleman
Live TV secured for ERC Rally Azores

April’s Rally Azores will be the first round of the new European Rally Championship to feature extended live television coverage, with four stages being shown on Eurosport. Live coverage is a key part of the planned development of the ERC, as it was with the former series , the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. Jerez too rough for F1 testing – Pirelli

Formula 1 teams may need to consider an alternative venue to Jerez for pre-season tyre testing next year unless the Spanish venue undergoes a track resurface, according to Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery. Hembery claims that this week’s first action at Jerez has been compromised by the surface being too rough to allow proper evaluation of tyres.
Massa fastest on third morning of testing

Felipe Massa topped the times on the third morning of Formula 1 testing at Jerez, as he set the fastest time of the week so far. The Ferrari driver, who will hand over to Pedro de la Rosa for the final day of running, became the first driver to lap under 1m18s this week. Massa posted a 1m17.879s during a short run on the soft tyre, and then went only marginally slower on a similar run shortly after.
