Bottas: Monaco will be hardest race
May 22nd, 2013
Valtteri Bottas expects the Monaco Grand Prix to be the toughest challenge of his Formula 1 rookie season with Williams. The Finn, who has made an impressive start to his F1 career despite failing to score points in an uncompetitive Williams, has never raced in Monaco. GP3 did not run in Monaco when Bottas won the championship in 2011 and he did not drive on Friday morning last year when he was reserve driver for Williams
Maldonado banking on Monaco expertise
May 21st, 2013
Pastor Maldonado is hopeful his Monaco expertise will allow him to score the Williams team’s first points of the season in Sunday’s race. The Venezuelan has a good record at Monaco, with wins in both Formula Renault 3.5 and GP2 as well as a sensational run to sixth place in his first F1 appearance before being taken out by Lewis Hamilton.
Moreira Extends CTC Lead
by Katier Scott on May 20th, 2013
Nuno Moreira took full advantage of a faltering return to the series for ex-champion Gernot Fritsche to extend his lead at the Oulton Park circuit in England. A superb 221 point haul bolstered his advantage over Luca Zanetti to 52 points while several drivers found Turn One (Old Hall) of this classic race course to have race-ending tendencies. Fritsche wasn’t one of those, however as he waited until Knickerbrook to crash out after a misjudgement with an other driver. Kevin Law was another star of the walking moving up seven places to 4th overall with an excellent 187 point haul, while Michel Dudognon’s 167 gained him 10 places to move inside the top 10 to 8th overall. Ramon Sprecher was unfortunate to fall the other way, despite a solid 109 [...]
F1′s race to secure engines hots up
May 17th, 2013
Formula 1 could be set for a dramatic shake-up as the race to secure engine deals for the future hots up. Honda’s return to Formula 1 , Mercedes’ push to find another customer, plus Renault’s desire to supply fewer teams , has opened the way for plenty of changes over the next few years. There is now even the prospect of a renewal of some iconic F1 partnerships from the past, with both Lotus and Williams leading contenders to land Honda deals
Spain race quotes: Caterham
May 12th, 2013
Charles Pic – 17th: “I’m really happy with today’s performance. Finishing 17th doesn’t really tell the whole story as we ended the race right behind one of the Williams cars which shows that we’ve made some good progress this weekend. The blue flags didn’t help as without them I’d have had a much better chance of overtaking him, but it was still good that I could attack him in the last few laps.
Bottas says Williams updates working
May 10th, 2013
Valtteri Bottas declared that his upgraded Williams felt the best the car had all year in Friday practice for the Spanish Grand Prix, but still was unsure if the performance gain would be enough. After failing to score a point in the opening four races, Williams has brought a major development package to Barcelona. It remained open-minded, however, saying it also had a ‘plan B’ option if these changes did not pay off
Moreira Takes Surprise CTC Lead
by Katier Scott on May 10th, 2013
Fittipaldi driver Nuno Moreira opened the 2013 S2 Classic Teams Championship with an excellent performance that placed the veteran sim-racer atop the championship. Several pre-season favourites and leading runners were absent as the season opened with 136 drivers visiting the classic Northamptonshire venue of Silverstone. Running the Silverstone Historical layout 12 drivers registered race wins, with Season One champion, now running as a guest driver, Nicklas Lindqvist, taking three wins in as many starts in is Lotus 79. Two drivers registered pairs of wins, from pairs of starts with Steve Kasimatis outscoring Williams driver, James Hand by 41 points. One other driver was a double winner during the course of the week, but Jacek Madejski had to start his Hesketh five times in order to take his duo of victories. [...]
Williams has ‘plan B’ for troubled car
May 9th, 2013
Pastor Maldonado insists that Williams has a ‘plan B’ should the major upgrade package it will trial in Friday practice for the Spanish Grand Prix not perform as expected. Williams has endured a poor start to the 2013 Formula 1 season and has yet to score a point heading into a race that it won last year . But despite being confident that the new parts, which Williams has successfully tested during two days of straightline running at the Idiada facility in Spain since the Bahrain Grand Prix, will work, Maldonado does not see this upgrade as make or break for his campaign

Wolff plans to sell Williams stake
April 15th, 2013
Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff plans to sell the shares he still has in Williams, but he will only do so when the right buyer is found. After Wolff’s move from executive director at Williams to a senior role at Mercedes was announced earlier this year, it was made clear that Wolff would retain the 16 per cent stake he has in the Grove-based outfit. However, having progressed with buying a shareholding in the Mercedes F1 team, Wolff says that he has agreed with his German bosses that he will offload his involvement at Williams when the moment is right.
