Lorenzo blames handling for struggle
May 19th, 2013
Jorge Lorenzo blamed the poor handling of his Yamaha for his disappointing ride to seventh in Sunday’s MotoGP race at Le Mans. The defending champion ran third early on behind Andrea Dovizioso and race winner Dani Pedrosa but dropped back substantially as the race progressed. The Spaniard, who is now 17 points behind his compatriot Pedrosa’s Honda in the championship, said he was struggling everywhere on the circuit and he would have crashed if he had pushed any harder
Pedrosa wins eventful Le Mans race
May 19th, 2013
Dani Pedrosa dominated an eventful French Grand Prix to take over the top spot in the MotoGP championship standings. Pedrosa was well clear of Cal Crutchlow, second aboard the Tech 3 Yamaha despite riding with a shin fracture from his practice crash. The win moved Pedrosa six points clear of team-mate Marc Marquez, who recovered to third on the second Honda after a poor start, and 17 ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, whose Yamaha was only seventh.
Lorenzo says missing pole no concern
May 18th, 2013
MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo said missing out on the French Grand Prix pole to Marc Marquez was no concern as his whole focus was on ensuring his Yamaha did not fall off the pace in the race again. Lorenzo led the last round in Spain at first, but was overhauled by Honda’s Dani Pedrosa and then denied second when Marquez barged past at the final corner. The Yamaha rider had been concerned about long-run pace following that disappointment and remained unsure about his bike’s speed in Friday practice at Le Mans

Crutchlow angered by Espargaro talks
May 10th, 2013
Cal Crutchlow has questioned the wisdom of Yamaha’s negotiations with Pol Espargaro that could cost the Briton his Tech 3 ride at the end of 2013. The 27-year-old Briton confirmed he is aware of Yamaha’s plans to sign Espargaro, runner-up to Marc Marquez in last year’s Moto2 championship, to a factory contract. Works riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, and Tech 3 team-mate Bradley Smith, all have contracts with the Japanese manufacturer, but Crutchlow only has a one-year deal

No stand-in for Spies at Jerez
May 2nd, 2013
Pramac Ducati has confirmed that it will only field Andrea Iannone in this weekend’s Jerez MotoGP race, as Michele Pirro will run with the works team rather than on Ben Spies’ bike. Factory test rider Pirro was originally listed as the stand-in for Spies in the Spanish Grand Prix, as the American skips the race to recover from lingering injuries. But Jerez had previously been announced as one of the venues at which Pirro would ride an additional works Ducati alongside Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden, and Ducati said earlier this week that this would go ahead, with the Italian on a development machine

Lorenzo won’t resign himself to defeat

Jorge Lorenzo is still optimistic that he has a shot at beating the Hondas in the Austin MotoGP race despite Yamaha’s qualifying deficit. Rossi thrilled to prove his pace

Rossi had only qualified sixth, and although he jumped to fourth on the first lap, he found himself back in eighth soon afterwards when he slid off the road trying to pass Andrea Dovizioso’s Ducati. He was able to battle back to claim second from Honda’s star rookie Marc Marquez with two laps to go, completing a Yamaha one-two behind the dominant Jorge Lorenzo.
