April 6th, 2013
Valentino Rossi believes traffic cost him a spot on the front two rows of the grid for the opening MotoGP race of the season, the Qatar Grand Prix. After an unsuccessful two-year spell with Ducati, Rossi has returned to Yamaha – the manufacturer with which he won four of his seven top-class world titles – for 2013.

Rossi hopes rally win a good omen
November 27th, 2012
Valentino Rossi hopes his victory in last weekend’s Monza Rally marks the start of an upsurge in his fortunes ahead of his return to the Yamaha MotoGP team. Driving a Ford Fiesta WRC, Rossi defeated former Le Mans driver Dindo Capello’s Citroen by 2.8 seconds after nine stages. Rossi had previously won the event in 2006 and ’07

Spies thrilled with breakthrough third
June 5th, 2011
Ben Spies was delighted to get his 2011 season going with his maiden podium finish for the factory Yamaha MotoGP team at Catalunya. After a luckless start to the year that had seen him taking just two sixth places finishes from the opening four rounds, Spies came home third in Spain today. He had said before the weekend that he just needed a straightforward race to get his confidence back, so was very happy to have achieved that
Spies admits needing confidence boost
June 2nd, 2011
Ben Spies says he wants to make a ‘fresh start’ to his 2011 season from this weekend’s Catalunya Grand Prix, but admits his tough start to the campaign has sapped his confidence. In his first season with the factory Yamaha MotoGP team, Spies is yet to finish on the podium and has just two sixth places to show from the opening four grands prix.
Crutchlow pleased with surgery outcome
December 11th, 2010
MotoGP rookie Cal Crutchlow is confident that he will be fully healed from recent shoulder surgery in time for the start of 2011 testing in February. The British rider, who has moved from Yamaha’s World Superbike team to the Tech 3 Yamaha MotoGP squad, had an operation on a lingering injury in Manchester last week. “I crashed at the end of 2009 and ripped the reverse bankart at the back of the shoulder – it was very similar to what Valentino [Rossi] had,” Crutchlow told the official MotoGP website
Yoshikawa will treat race like a test
July 1st, 2010
Yamaha’s substitute rider Wataru Yoshikawa says he is ‘honoured’ to stand in for Valentino Rossi but is regarding his three-race stint in the factory race seat primarily as a data gathering exercise. The 41-year-old Japanese rider has been part of Yamaha’s development programme for most of the past decade and only has a handful of top-level MotoGP and World Superbike starts to his name, although he won two Japanese Superbike titles in the 1990s. He was given the works Yamaha MotoGP chance after other Yamaha-contracted riders – such as Tech 3′s Ben Spies and Superbike star Cal Crutchlow – expressed misgivings about being temporarily thrust into Rossi’s seat without adequate preparation
