Two-time Champ Car champion and former Formula 1 team boss Gil de Ferran has become an ambassador for Formula E. The Brazilian will become an official spokesperson for the series, particularly in North America. “Electric vehicles are undoubtedly playing an increasing role in the transportation landscape worldwide and as such, electric car racing will provide the perfect platform to help accelerate the development of relevant technologies and showcase the potential in an exciting way,” said de Ferran.

IndyCar drivers expect a tough race when the series returns to Pocono next weekend after several had the opportunity to test at the famed tri-oval on Tuesday. Fourteen drivers from eight teams were on hand to run on the 2.5 mile oval, and Indianapolis 500 polesitter Ed Carpenter said that he liked what he found. “Turn 1 is a beast in the IndyCar,” Carpenter said.

Lotus owner Genii Capital has sold a 35 per cent stake in the team to new investor Infinity Racing. After a long-running effort to find suitable partners, Genii boss Gerard Lopez has agreed that the Infinity Racing group – made up of private investors from America, Abu Dhabi and an unidentified oil producing nation – will take a minority shareholding.
