IndyCar has targeted a move outside of North America by 2015 with a series of off-season races around the world that could form a winter championship. The aim of the races would be to give IndyCar teams new revenue streams over an off-season that looks likely to grow from next year, when the calendar could climax as early as the end of August.

Poland’s return to the World Rally Championship is set to be confirmed when the 2014 calendar is voted on later this week. The calendar was expected at June’s World Motor Sport Council meeting, but had to be delayed due to ongoing contractual negotiations between individual event organisers and the WRC promoter.

The FIA has launched an investigation into the delivery of timing and tracking in the World Rally Championship. Previous supplier Stage One Technology was dropped in favour of Spanish firm SIT this year. The teams, event organisers and drivers have been frustrated from the start of the season by a variety of issues with both the timing and tracking

Heavy rain limited the action on the second day of MotoGP testing at the new Termas de Rio Hondo track in Argentina on Friday. A group of four MotoGP riders have spent this week doing promotional duties in the country, which will host the world championship again from 2014 to at least 2016, with two days of testing to conclude it.

LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl was fastest as a small group of MotoGP riders tried the new Termas de Rio Hondo track in Argentina for the first time on Thursday. The venue was originally scheduled to host MotoGP this season, before political issues forced it to be postponed until 2014.

Tom Boardman will skip the World Touring Car Championship’s forthcoming event in Argentina as a result of the damage he suffered in race one in Porto. The Briton only returned to the WTCC fold in Portugal, having missed the previous two events in Austria and Russia due to lingering engine problems with his Special Tuning Racing SEAT.

The calendar for next year’s World Rally Championship has been delayed by one month and is not expected to be delivered at this week’s meeting of the World Motor Sport Council at Goodwood House. There had been hopes that a likely 12-event schedule would be made public, offering clarity and potential for greater logistical planning ahead of next season.
