American Le Mans Series and British Touring Car Championship race winner Steven Kane is in the frame to drive for the Greaves Motorsport LMP2 squad before the end of the year. The 33-year-old Briton, who is racing with the JRM Nissan squad in the Blancpain Endurance Series this year, became a contender for a drive in one of the Greaves Zytek-Nissan Z11SNs in either the World Endurance Championship or the European Le Mans Series after a successful try-out with the team last week.

Reigning Japanese Formula 3 champion Ryo Hirakawa is in the frame to make his IndyCar debut with Dale Coyne Racing at Sonoma in two weeks. The 19-year-old, who is currently 11th in the Super Formula (formerly Formula Nippon) standings, is expected to test with the team before the end of the year and could sample its second car as soon as the open test on August 21st at Sonoma. Team owner Dale Coyne confirmed that there are plans to test the Japanese driver but said that putting him into the race at Sonoma was unlikely due to a date clash.

The grid for new Asian Le Mans Series will grow over the remainder of the season from the 11 cars entered for this weekend’s championship opener at the Inje Speedium in South Korea, according to the series boss. Mark Thomas admitted disappointment with the entry for the first of this year’s four Asian LMS races, but insisted that more cars would arrive before the end of the season. “Of course we would have liked more, but the most important thing is that we are here and the race is on,” he told AUTOSPORT from Inje

Scott Dixon spearheaded the Ganassi team’s first-ever 1-2-3 finish in an eventful IndyCar race at Pocono. Dixon crossed the line ahead of Charlie Kimball and Dario Franchitti to secure the win on an afternoon where pre-race favourite Andretti Autosport crumbled. All three Ganassi cars had started at the rear of the pack, but the trio picked their way through the field and capitalised on their ability to extend a tank of fuel further than their Chevrolet-powered counterparts to take control of the race during the final stint.

Warren Scott will drive an NGTC Volkswagen Passat in the remainder of the 2013 British Touring Car Championship after a new partnership was agreed between Team BMR and Team HARD. Scott had raced BMR’s S2000-spec SEAT Leon in the opening races of the season, although the team had always planned to move up to NGTC machinery before the end of the year.

Marco Andretti opened this weekend’s IndyCar round at the Milwaukee Mile by setting the fastest time in today’s opening practice session. Andretti moved to the top with a lap of 21.9217s just over 10 minutes before the end of the session to lower the previous marker set by team-mate Ryan Hunter-Reay by just 0.0183s, and the time remained unbeaten
