Double world champion Casey Stoner will make a dramatic return to MotoGP action as a test rider for Honda in the coming months. The Australian will undertake four tests at Motegi for Honda’s R&D team, with the aim of evolving the RC213V and developing the new production-based racer Honda will sell to selected teams for next year’s championship. Nicky Hayden has confirmed that he will lose his Ducati MotoGP seat at the end of 2013. The 2006 world champion has been a factory Ducati rider since ’09, when he joined from Honda.

The iRacers converged on Road Atlanta for Season Three’s final round of the iRacing.com V8 Supercar Series by Bigpond Sport. Much like the Las Vegas IZOD IndyCar finale’s celebrations were horribly muted by the loss of Dan Wheldon, this end-of-term party was spoiled by yet another motorsport tragedy, this time the death of MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli. It was a dark week for world motorsport. As said last week, the whole motorsport community feels it heavily, and sim racers are no different. Still, the V8 iRacers got on with business and with Madison Down atop the series ladder with a margin of 68 points to Mitchell McLeod, a solid result would secure his second title.
