The world’s fastest Corvette is coming to iRacing.com. The renowned online motorsports service announced today that a digital version of the Corvette C7 Daytona Prototype will be available to its more than 60,000 members come mid-September when it will be featured in the official IMSA iRacing.com Online SportsCar Championship. Week Six of the NASCAR iRacing Class C Fixed Series brings nearly 2,100 sim racers to the virtual Iowa Speedway for 45 laps of racing at the 0.875-mile short track. Iowa Speedway is a favorite among the real racing community as well as the sim racing community for the great racing it produces all throughout the field. No matter where you look, it’s not uncommon for drivers to be racing side-by-side battling for position every lap of the race. With those side-by-side battles, it’s also not uncommon for drivers to tangle and end up in the garage prematurely, leaving all involved very disappointed with their finish. Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood says the venue is confident that it has done everything it can to ensure crowd safety for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup opener following the fan injuries in Saturday’s Nationwide event. A last-lap crash in the Nationwide round resulted in Kyle Larson’s car flying into the safety fence.

World Touring Car Championship race winner Tom Coronel believes that the departure of Chevrolet’s works team will create a level playing field in the series. The factory Chevrolet team won 41 of the 48 races during the 2011-2012 seasons, and it has won the championship for the past three years. Coronel, who has been one of the leading challengers to the RML-run cars over that time in his BMW 320 TC, feels that the championship will be more open now that Chevrolet has pulled out .
