Valentino Rossi believes that Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa’s one-two finish at Brno is evidence that Honda has moved ahead of Yamaha in the MotoGP pecking order. Honda has now won the last four straight races – all courtesy of Marquez – and has taken pole position in six of the last eight events. Yamaha meanwhile last triumphed in June, when Rossi prevailed in the Dutch TT

We are not very far from unlocking more speed, but the others around us are also making gains which makes it difficult to close the gap

Pastor Maldonado – 10th/13th: It wasn’t a bad day for us as our performance looked better than at previous events compared to the times posted today. We still need to work on the balance as the feeling is similar, but we will analyse the data and try to close the gap for tomorrow. The heat is going to be a big factor this weekend for all teams.

Lotus is convinced it will be back on the pace at the British Grand Prix after blaming its struggles in the Canadian Grand Prix on track characteristics. Kimi Raikkonen was lapped by title rival Sebastian Vettel on Sunday, on a weekend when he never appeared to have the pace to fight for victory and finished ninth . But despite the deficit in performance seen in Montreal, team principal Eric Boullier thinks the situation will be dramatically different at Silverstone because that track will suit the Lotus much better.
