Formula 1 teams will be required to fit improved wheel retention systems from the Singapore Grand Prix in a bid to improve pitlane safety, AUTOSPORT has learned. Amid an increased focus on pitstop safety after an FOM cameraman was injured when he was hit by a loose wheel at the German GP, the FIA has requested that teams change their designs after the Italian GP. F1′s regulations already demand that teams must fit wheel retention devices – but there has been no stipulation on the exact design of these.

Sebastien Ogier has admitted he has long dreamed of being in the lead of Rally Finland going into the final day, but he says he still will not risk all to win the event. The Volkswagen driver leads by 38.1 seconds at the end of the penultimate day of the event, but remains focused on his chances of a first World Rally Championship title later this season. “Definitely I have dreamed of this moment,” he said, “dreamed of going through Ouninpohja in the lead of Rally Finland.

The Indian Grand Prix is unlikely to be included in the 2014 Formula 1 calendar, according to Bernie Ecclestone. The event made its debut in 2011, but teams have been constantly concerned about taxation issues when entering the country

The British Formula 3 International Series is facing a tough second round at Spa-Francorchamps next week after a spate of withdrawals. Puerto Rican Felix Serralles has called time on his British F3 campaign with Fortec Motorsport due to his back injuries , although he will continue in the European championship, while Italian powerhouse Prema Powerteam has been forced to go back on its wish to contest the event

Felix Rosenqvist has committed to taking part in the Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort, putting an end to speculation that he would miss the event. The Mucke Motorsport driver currently lies second in the European championship behind Raffaele Marciello, having won all three races at the recent Spielberg round . Marciello is not competing at the Masters , his Prema Powerteam drive instead being taken by Brit Emil Bernstorff.
