James Calado scored his first race win of the 2013 GP2 Series at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday. The ART driver held off Racing Engineering’s Julian Leal by just 0.4 seconds. Calado, who had a fresh set of prime tyres available for this race by dint of starting on the soft on Saturday, streaked into an early lead from pole position

GP2 Series leader Stefano Coletti set the fastest time in free practice ahead of round eight at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday morning. The Rapax driver lapped the Belgian Grand Prix venue in 1m58.386s, 0.059 seconds faster than James Calado of ART. Fabio Leimer, who is in the title hunt in third in the points, was third fastest, but almost two tenths off Coletti’s time

Nathanael Berthon claimed his first ever GP2 win with a faultless performance in Hungary. He made full use of his reversed-grid pole position to lead into the first corner.

Jolyon Palmer drove a brilliant race, taking full advantage of Carlin’s superior tyre strategy, to score an emphatic GP2 win in Hungary. Palmer started the race on the medium tyre and was able to go further than his nearest rivals before switching to another set of medium Pirellis. Making full use of his fresher rubber he pulled off a great move on Marcus Ericsson for the lead.

Sam Bird set the pace in a scorching hot GP2 free practice session in Hungary. The Russian Time driver ended the 30-minute session over three tenths faster than his closest rival, Caterham’s Sergio Canamasas. Tom Dillmann underlined the pace of the Russian Time car by recording the third-best time

Jon Lancaster scored a second successive GP2 sprint race victory at the Nurburgring on Sunday morning, holding off the challenge of fellow Brit James Calado. Lancaster charged into the lead from the start, controlling a lock-up into the first corner and then extending a 3.2-second lead before the safety car was required to recover Stephane Richelmi’s stranded car

Stephane Richelmi will start the feature race for the sixth round of the GP2 Series from pole position at the Nurburgring on Saturday. Richelmi grabbed the top spot in Friday’s qualifying session from DAMS team-mate Marcus Ericsson by 0.276s on his second run on new tyres to score his first career GP2 pole.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — For only the second time in the team’s history Williams has had to resort to a paying driver as it finally confirmed that GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado will partner Rubens Barrichello next year. The first was Patrick Neve who brought backing from the Belgian brewery Belle-Vue in 1977, the maiden season for Williams Grand Prix Engineering.
