Nissan sportscar racers Michael Krumm and Lucas Ordonez are being lined up for 2014 Bathurst 1000km drives after testing the firm’s V8 Supercars Altima for the first time. Long-time factory Nissan driver Krumm and GT Academy graduate Ordonez got the chance to test Rick Kelly and James Moffat’s V8 Nissans at Winton on Monday as part of the manufacturer’s new Global Driver Exchange programme

Toyota will go into next year’s World Endurance Championship with an unchanged driver line-up. The Japanese manufacturer has re-signed all six of its existing drivers, which means that Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre, Kazuki Nakajima, Anthony Davidson, Stephane Sarrazin and Sebastien Buemi will all remain with the team for a third consecutive season.

Honda’s new Formula 1 engine is set to be fired up for the first time in the autumn of this year, AUTOSPORT can reveal. The Japanese manufacturer announced it will return to grand prix racing after an absence of six seasons as engine supplier to McLaren in 2015.

Two-time GP2 champion team DAMS is aiming to return to international sportscar racing in next year’s World Endurance Championship. The Le Mans-based squad, which has run factory sportscar programmes for Panoz and Cadillac, has made no secret of its desire to make a comeback in endurance racing over the past two years and has now revealed that its focus is on joining the GTE Pro ranks in 2014.

The FIA believes that it can create a set of regulations that will appeal to privateers wanting to challenge for overall victories at Le Mans and in the World Endurance Championship. AUTOSPORT recently reported that the sport’s governing body was working with Le Mans organiser the ACO to come up with a set of regulations for 2014 that will encourage privateer teams to enter the top class of prototype racing.
