Stefan Bradl insists he is not worried about his MotoGP future despite confirming he does not have a deal in place for 2014. The German was reported to have signed a deal to compete as a ‘Honda factory supported rider’ until the end of 2014 , but confirmed in Laguna Seca that no such deal is in place for next year. He graduated to the premier class with the satellite LCR squad after beating Marc Marquez to the 2011 Moto2 championship

Marc Marquez extended his MotoGP championship lead as he claimed a second consecutive race win on his Laguna Seca debut. The Spaniard belied his inexperience of the Californian track all weekend, leading three of the four practice sessions and only missing out on pole due to a crash.

Stefan Bradl claimed a shock MotoGP pole at Laguna Seca after Marc Marquez blew his chances with a crash. Marquez had looked set to dominate qualifying, having been quickest in practice sessions two , three and four, and with main rivals Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa nursing injuries

Nicky Hayden has confirmed that he will lose his Ducati MotoGP seat at the end of 2013. The 2006 world champion has been a factory Ducati rider since ’09, when he joined from Honda.

Valentino Rossi has questioned the safety of the Sachsenring layout following a spate of heavy crashes during the MotoGP weekend. Championship protagonists Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa were both forced to sit out Sunday’s race as a result of injuries sustained in horrible highsides during practice. Andrea Dovizioso, Nicky Hayden, Cal Crutchlow, Andrea Iannone and Bryan Staring were among a list of other riders to fall, with the sixth-gear right-hander of Turn 11 the chief area for incidents.

Jorge Lorenzo’s hopes of defending his 2012 MotoGP championship crown have suffered a potentially massive blow after confirmation that he will miss the German Grand Prix due to injury. The Spaniard will fly to Barcelona tonight (Friday) to have surgery on his damaged shoulder, after x-rays revealed he had damaged a titanium plate – inserted after he broke his collarbone a fortnight ago at Assen – in a massive highside crash.

Stefan Bradl led a Honda top-three lockout in a second MotoGP Sachsenring practice session marred by a huge accident for the already injured Jorge Lorenzo. The Spaniard carried on his morning momentum to put Yamaha top early on, but just three minutes in he was flicked off his bike at Turn 10 and landed on the left collarbone he broke at Assen. He spent the remainder of the session in the medical centre undergoing checks.

Jorge Lorenzo set the pace in a crash-strewn first MotoGP practice session at the Sachsenring. The Spaniard, competing just a fortnight after breaking his collarbone at Assen, hit the front halfway through the session and was then able to continually improve his pace to ensure he was never displaced. Both championship leader Dani Pedrosa, chasing a fourth straight MotoGP win at the German track, and Valentino Rossi, winner last time out at Assen, were able to close to within one tenth of Lorenzo in the final minutes.

Ducati duo Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden felt their troubled team made tangible progress in a three-day test at Misano after its poor Dutch Grand Prix performance. Dovizioso’s distant 10th place in the race was as good as the Assen weekend got for Ducati, as it struggled not only to match its prototype rivals, but to keep up with the leading CRT bikes in the Netherlands.

Alvaro Bautista went quickest at a drying Assen in Friday morning MotoGP practice, as Marc Marquez escaped a huge accident. Marquez was the first rider to try slick tyres in the closing minutes. The lap seemed to be going well until the approach to the very fast Ramshoek, just after the point where Jorge Lorenzo broke his collarbone on Thursday

Marc Marquez was fastest in a wet second MotoGP practice at Assen, but the big news was that champion Jorge Lorenzo fractured his collarbone in a crash. Lorenzo was flung over the handlebars of his Yamaha when he went off on standing water at the fast Turn 13. It was confirmed immediately after the session that he had fractured his left collarbone, putting his participation in the rest of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend in doubt and jeopardising his championship bid

Jorge Lorenzo took the early advantage as MotoGP’s Assen weekend commenced with free practice on Thursday morning. The Hondas had set the initial pace, but a mid-session 1m35.3s lap from Lorenzo put the Yamaha on top by 0.7 seconds. Lorenzo later improved to 1m35.263s, which kept him 0.350s clear of the field as others improved
