2003 World Rally champion Petter Solberg is looking for a way back into the series next year. The Norwegian stopped rallying last season, preferring to compete with his own team in the European Rallycross Championship when it became clear that there was no full-time factory WRC seat for him.

Frenchman Davy Jeanney tops the order after the first two heats of the sixth round of the European Rallycross Championship at Holjes in Sweden. The Citroen C4 driver won both of his races, setting second and third fastest times respectively. Second overnight is young Norwegian star Andreas Bakkerud, who won both of his races on track and is again showing well following his form at the previous round , his home race in Norway.

Two-time DTM champion Mattias Ekstrom will become the latest star name to compete in rallycross this year when he takes part in this weekend’s X Games Munich. The Swede will contest the Munich event, which is also the latest round of the Global Rallycross Championship, in a Marklund Motorsport Volkswagen Polo supercar alongside team regular Anton Marklund. He will then remain with the squad for the following weekend’s European championship round at Holjes in Sweden before resuming his regular DTM duties with Audi at the Norisring

Petter Solberg delighted his home fans by setting the fastest time in both for the first two heats of the Norwegian round of the European Rally Championship at Hell. Solberg did not make the best start in heat one, opting to take the joker at the first opportunity.

Robert Kubica tested a factory Ford Fiesta RS WRC in France last month, AUTOSPORT’s sources have confirmed. The Polish driver joined Ford for its development test at the Circuit des Ecuyers close to Reims in central France.
