Rally Finland stewards have decided Evgeny Novikov did block Kris Meeke on the Palsankyla stage on Friday morning. The British driver has been credited with the time he posted on the second run through the stage – which was 23.7 seconds faster than in the morning, so has had 23.7s deducted from his overall time. The new time does not alter his position in the classificiation, but it does mean he starts the final day just eight seconds behind his team-mate and Citroen team leader Mikko Hirvonen and more than a minute ahead of sixth-placed Jarkko Nikara.

Valentino Rossi sees no reason why he cannot maintain his race-winning form for the rest of the MotoGP season after his breakthrough victory at Assen . The seven-time series champion had gone nearly three years without a win before his Dutch Grand Prix triumph last weekend. Valentino Rossi admits the pressure is now on him to spearhead Yamaha at the Dutch Grand Prix after his title-chasing team-mate Jorge Lorenzo was sidelined with a fractured collarbone. Lorenzo crashed at high speed in second practice at Assen on Thursday and will miss at least this weekend’s race.

Valentino Rossi believes a breakthrough he made in Wednesday’s Aragon test could bring a turnaround in his difficult MotoGP season. Since taking second place in Qatar in his first race back at Yamaha, Rossi has struggled to make an impression, with qualifying being a particular weak point.

Juho Hanninen has been linked with a Citroen drive on next month’s Rally Finland. The reigning European Rally Champion, who is reckoned to be the man behind wheel of Hyundai’s i20 WRC test car, has not driven a DS3 WRC before, but his familiarity with the roads around Jyvaskyla appear to have given him the nod to take Khalid Al-Qassimi’s seat in the Citroen Abu Dhabi team

The calendar for the 2009/10 GP2 Asia Series is taking shape, with four dates confirmed and a fifth still under discussion. A two-day test at Abu Dhabi on October 23/24 will get things underway ahead of the opening round, which will support the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix a week later.
