Hyundai World Rally Championship test driver Juho Hanninen intends to continue competing in an M-Sport Ford alongside his duties for the Korean firm. Hanninen’s role with the build-up to Hyundai’s WRC return was confirmed earlier this week.

Kris Meeke will return to a factory World Rally Championship seat in Finland to stand in for Khalid Al Qassimi at Citroen next month. Al Qassimi has to miss the event due to business commitments, leaving a vacancy in the car Citroen runs under the Abu Dhabi banner. Meeke, the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion, has not had a top WRC seat since the Prodrive Mini programme was cut back at the end of 2011

Juho Hanninen has been strongly linked to a seat with Hyundai’s new World Rally Championship programme, as the team promised it would announce its first driver in July. The 31-year-old Finn is understood to be test driver for Hyundai’s i20 WRC development car. The firm would not be drawn on the identity of its test driver, beyond confirming he was not Korean.
