Toyota is refusing to set the target of beating Audi to race victories over the remainder of this year’s World Endurance Championship. Toyota Motorsport GmbH technical director Pascal Vasselon told AUTOSPORT it would be unfair on his team to burden it with the target of winning races over the five events of the second leg of the WEC, which begins this weekend at Interlagos in Brazil. He made the comments in the wake of Audi’s dominant form in the first three races of the WEC, including victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours in June

Nissan could go for an electric Land Speed Record with its ZEOD RC experimental Le Mans 24 Hours racer after next year’s endurance classic. The Japanese manufacturer has admitted that it is eyeing the new electric LSR set by Lord Paul Drayson in June for vehicles weighing under 1000kg. ZEOD designer Ben Bowlby, whose title at Nissan is director of motorsport innovation, believes that the car will be capable in electric form of beating the 204.2mph average set by Drayson in his Lola B12/69 EV at RAF Elvington in Yorkshire

Former grand prix driver Christian Klien has joined the Swiss Morand Racing LMP2 team for the remainder of the European Le Mans Series. The Austrian, who raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours with the factory Peugeot team in 2008 and ’09, will race Morand’s Morgan-Judd/BMW LMP2 with Switzerland’s Natacha Gachnang at the Hungaroring and Paul Ricard ELMS rounds in September.

Luca Filippi says that team owner Bryan Herta has not issued him with any specific targets as he prepares to make his IndyCar debut at Mid-Ohio this weekend. The Italian tested with Bryan Herta Autosport at the track on Wednesday before being confirmed as Alex Tagliani’s replacement for this weekend. But while BHA is keen to improve its results over the remainder of the season, Filippi insists that he has not been put under any pressure

Toyota’s solo entry in the next two rounds of the World Endurance Championship will be driven by its best-placed trio in the points table. As revealed by AUTOSPORT , the Japanese manufacturer will run just one TS030 HYBRID in the majority of the remainder of the series and that it will be driven by Anthony Davidson, Stephane Sarrazin and Sebastien Buemi at the Interlagos and Austin rounds of the series in September

Robin Frijns will be replaced by Adrian Quaife-Hobbs at the Hilmer GP2 squad for the remainder of the season. The reigning Formula Renault 3.5 champion joined Hilmer from the second round of the series in Bahrain and has competed in five rounds for the German squad. Frijns won in his third GP2 outing in Spain and has scored 45 points in total

Will Buller has decided to end his Formula 3 European Championship campaign with Fortec Motorsport, ahead of this weekend’s Norisring round. The 20-year-old Briton, who currently leads the British F3 standings for the team, contested the most recent European round at Spielberg with Fortec after switching from rival squad T-Sport .

Strakka Racing, the first LMP1 privateer finisher in this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours , has withdrawn from the remainder of the 2013 World Endurance Championship. The British team has decided to miss the final five rounds of the series with its HPD ARX-03c in order to focus on what it is calling an “exciting new 2014 sportscar campaign”. Warren Scott will drive an NGTC Volkswagen Passat in the remainder of the 2013 British Touring Car Championship after a new partnership was agreed between Team BMR and Team HARD. Scott had raced BMR’s S2000-spec SEAT Leon in the opening races of the season, although the team had always planned to move up to NGTC machinery before the end of the year.
