How to Host a League Race
There are multiple opportunities to get on track at iRacing including official racing, open multi-car practice, time trialing, special event racing, testing alone on track and what we call Hosted Racing.
What is Hosted Racing?
Hosted Racing enables members to create their own private racing sessions with any car or track combination they want, or to create and run their own private league. You can create hosted sessions for any purpose including racing with friends, testing or formally starting or joining your own league. There are already hundreds of private leagues on iRacing and many leagues are always looking for new members. However, you can also start your own private league or transition your existing league to iRacing very easily.
Starting your own private racing league
Starting your own private league is easy. There are three options in the "Hosted" section on the iRacing member site: "Join a Race," "Host a Race," and "Hosted Results."
To start a league you simply go to the "Host a Race" section and select the parameters for the race from our easy-to-use drop-down page.
You can schedule your league up to a year in advance. For example, you may want to have your league run every Thursday night at 8:00 using the NASCAR Cup Car and rotating to all the different Sprint Cup tracks used in the real world. You then simply invite your friends to "Join a Race" race at 8:00 p.m. each Thursday. To keep the league private, create a password when you first set-up the session, then share that password with your league members.
You can recruit members for your league on the iRacing forums and or create your own league website using our easy to use website creator tool built just for iRacing. After the race you can track your league standings by selecting "Hosted Results" and view or export the race results and data to a file or your own league website.
It is that easy. In between your league races, take full advantage of the entire iRacing service by joining other leagues or racing in our official series like thousand of member do each day. At iRacing, you never will have trouble finding good driving or racing action 24/7.
Start your own Tournament in Hosted Racing
Another option in Hosted Racing is starting your own tournament or participating in one setup by another member or setup by iRacing. The tournament functionality is very robust and easy to use. You can invite hundreds of members to your tournament. You can design your tournament any way you want. It could last just a night or up to a year long. You choose how many rounds or "heats" that you want in your tournament and who moves on. You decide if you want to have a champion and "runner-up" bracket to keep everyone involved or simply an elimination tournament. You decide up front who moves on and how you want to grid the field, there are many options. You decide how qualifying works and who qualifies to race. You can also add or delete drivers on the fly as the tournament moves along. Many leagues utilize the tournament functionality and many members use it for stand-alone events.
