Formula Vee – FREE

Formula Vee – FREE

We revealed it on April Fool’s Day 2021, but it’s no joke: one of the most legendary junior open-wheel racing formulas is indeed a part of iRacing! The Formula Vee is based on the stock parts a pre-1963 Volkswagen Beetle, combining them with a tubeframe chassis and fiberglass or carbon fiber open-wheel body. Part of the SCCA Runoffs since 1964, the cars have also proven highly popular around the world, with iconic names from Niki Lauda to Keke Rosberg starting their careers in these venerable machines.

Porsche 911 GT3 R

Porsche 911 GT3 R

GT3s have proven to be some of the most popular road racing cars in the world in recent years, and few brands have quite the road racing pedigree of Porsche. It should stand as no surprise, then, that the Porsche 911 GT3 R is both a beloved and successful piece of kit. Immediately successful out of the gate thanks to a win in its first attempt at the Bathurst 12 Hour, you can find the 911 GT3 R running at the front of the field everywhere from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship to the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The 4.0-liter flat-six boxer engine produces a whopping 543 horsepower, more than enough to propel you to the front of the pack!

Volkswagen Beetle Lite – FREE

Volkswagen Beetle Lite – FREE

A little buggy that packs a big punch, the Volkswagen Beetle Lite crosses asphalt and gravel effortlessly. An adaptation of the Beetle, that dominated rallycross in North America for most of the past decade, the Beetle Lite’s engine has been reduced to 300 horsepower to enable drivers to learn the skills that will make them quick in rallycross without being overpowered by the turbo power of the Supercar. This Volkswagen Beetle features a retro form that pays homage to the original Volkswagen Type 1, the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single platform ever made.

BMW M4 GT3 – Update

BMW M4 GT3 – Update

iRacing’s renewed focus on GT3 content continues with BMW M4 GT3. Revealed at BMW Sim Live in early December in preparation for its real-world debut in 2021, the new car will compete in GT3 series around the world in the coming years, and will also run in iRacing’s corresponding official series and special events.
The BMW M4 GT3 started as a pre-release version of the BMW M4 GT3, made available to iRacing members in the weeks after the 2021 Season 1 build. The car succeeded the BMW Z4 GT3 as the second BMW to join iRacing’s GT3 offerings. For 2021 Season 3, the in-development car shed the Beta label for all members, receiving a comprehensive set of updates to match its final real-world form.

SCCA Spec Racer Ford – Update

SCCA Spec Racer Ford – Update

Further demonstrating its commitment to the class, SCCA introduced the Spec Racer Ford Gen3 formula in 2015. A new 1.6-liter engine fitted to the existing engine mounts boosts the car by an additional 30 horsepower, while also lightening the car by more than 100 pounds. The result is an even more fun and agile car to drive for an affordable price, with a higher top speed of 150 miles per hour as the cherry on top. This version of the car makes its debut in iRacing for 2021 Season 3.

How times have changed. In June 2020, NASCAR awarded Nashville Superspeedway a Cup Series date for 2021, effectively bringing the track back to life. For the first time, it’ll host all three national NASCAR series in June 2021. Like Dover International Speedway, its sister track, Nashville features a concrete racing surface that will present a unique challenge to the many real-world racing stars who will take it on for the first time. You’ll find yourself facing those same obstacles as you attempt to handle the track’s high speeds on iRacing!

The Red Bull Ring’s origins date back to 1969, when the Österreichring opened to replace the Zeltweg Airfield as host of the Austrian Grand Prix and attempt to draw the Driver’s World Championship back to the country. That mission was successful just one year later, and the event became a staple of the series until 1987. The track was completely rebuilt in the mid-1990s and rechristened the A1-Ring, which enabled it to return to the circuit from 1997 to 2003.

The F3 Championship is one of the most popular race series in the world and is just as popular within iRacing. A lower powered (220 hp) car will reward smooth drivers who can keep their momentum up in crowded race fields. Tight packs of cars mean this series will let drivers race and practice their craft as they work up through the field and the open-wheel ladder, and a fixed setup means that driver talent comes first in determining the finishing order.

AI Content

iRacing’s ever-expanding slate of AI content continues to grow in Season 3. Multiple cars and more than half a dozen tracks will be making their debut with our virtual racers, giving you more chances to get behind the wheel however and whenever you want! Here’s a look at some of the new content you can expect to be unlocked:

Porsche 911 GT3 R

iRacing’s newest GT3 joins the fleet of seven machines already enabled for AI use with the upcoming build. The Porsche 911 GT3 R joins the 911 GT3 Cup and 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport as the legendary brand’s third car on the current AI roster.

Red Bull Ring

Home to both the Austrian and Styrian Grands Prix over the past two years, the Red Bull Ring is one of the quickest and most fun venues in the world for open-wheel racing. Hit the track in your favorite machine and see if you’ve got what it takes to tame it!

Rookie Oval Content

Are you a new user who needs some help getting up to speed and doesn’t want to risk ruining anyone else’s race? Not only does the Street Stock make its iRacing AI debut, we’ve also got a number of free tracks; Lanier National Speedway, South Boston Speedway, Southern National Motorsports Park, and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park—for you to practice on with it.

Lucas Oil Raceway

In addition to the above free content, Lucas Oil Raceway also joins the iRacing AI oval list. The longtime host of everything from the Carb Night Classic for the Road to Indy, to sprint cars and midgets, the Indianapolis-based facility truly hosts the biggest events on the schedule for some of American motorsport’s best grassroots racing series.

Oran Park Raceway & Oulton Park

Don’t worry, Rookie level road racers—we haven’t left you out! All layouts of England’s Oulton Park and multiple layouts of Australia’s Oran Park Raceway are also now unlocked for AI use.

Dirt Road

iRacing Dirt Road users will have an expanded path through public events and the opportunity to earn Class A licenses for the first time beginning with 2021 Season 3. The new Dirt Road ladder will introduce additional rallycross and off-road truck series, while also adding the brand new Volkswagen Beetle Lite to iRacing Rallycross competition.

Rallycross

Similar to the Pro 2 Lite, the Volkswagen Beetle Lite is a lower-horsepower alternative to its Supercar cousin that will be made available free to all iRacing users. The new car will take over the iRacing Rallycross Rookie and Class D slates, while Supercars will move up to Class C for fixed-setup, finals-only events and Class B for open-setup events with heat racing.

Off-Road

On the iRacing Off-Road side of things, the Pro 2 Lite will continue to hold its place in Rookie events, while fixed-setup events for the Pro 4 Truck (Class D) and Pro 2 Truck (Class C) will take up the next spots on the ladder. Open-setup racing for both the Pro 4 and Pro 2 will take place at the Class B level.
