iRacing Companion App 3.0: More Connected, More Consistent, and Built for the Future

Today, the iRacing Companion App 3.0 is being released!

We’re excited to share a closer look at iRacing Companion App 3.0, which includes a large technical modernization, a more consistent user interface, improved data synchronization with iRacing, expanded localization support, redesigned flows, and many quality-of-life improvements across the app for members and developers alike.

Here’s a look at what’s changing:

A Companion App That Feels More Connected to iRacing

One of the biggest goals of iRacing Companion App 3.0 is to make the app feel less like a separate mobile experience and more like a true companion to the UI.

Previously, some areas of the app used independent local systems or app-specific data. With this update, the Companion App is more directly synchronized with the UI, helping create a more consistent experience between desktop and mobile.

This is especially important for favorites and social data. Favorites are now synchronized with iRacing, so the cars, tracks, series, and leagues you favorite are shared with the UI instead of living separately inside the app.

Synced areas include:

• Favorite cars
• Favorite tracks
• Favorite series
• Favorite leagues
• iRacing friends
• Followed drivers
• Pending friend requests

You can also manage more of your iRacing social connections directly from the app, including sending, accepting, and rejecting friend requests, and following and unfollowing drivers. Friend-related notifications are not part of this update, but the underlying social data is now much more closely aligned with iRacing.

A More Modern Foundation

iRacing Companion App 3.0 features a significant technical modernization of the app, which adds a stronger foundation. Large parts of the app have also been rewritten or modernized, helping to improve reliability, maintainability, and development speed.

For users, the goal is simple: a smoother, more consistent, and more reliable mobile experience across iOS and Android. For the team, this update gives us a stronger foundation to continue improving the Companion App and bringing more iRacing features to mobile in future releases.

A Refined and More Consistent User Experience

iRacing Companion App 3.0 continues to evolve the mobile experience with a refreshed approach to layout, navigation, and visual presentation.

Across the app, many screens have been updated to better align with the latest iRacing design patterns, making information easier to scan and interactions feel more familiar between different areas of the app. This includes refinements to cards, tables, filters, buttons, tags, loading states, error states, and empty states, along with additional polish for dark and light mode, headers, and platform-specific behavior.

The result is an app experience that feels more cohesive, more readable, and more closely connected to the rest of iRacing.

Available in Multiple Languages

iRacing Companion App 3.0 is now localized in multiple languages, making the mobile experience more accessible to iRacers around the world. The app now supports:

A Redesigned Add Reminders Flow

The reminders experience has been redesigned around a guided step-by-step flow.

Instead of relying on a more manual setup experience, iRacing Companion App 3.0 makes it easier to configure reminders by walking users through the process in clear steps. Depending on the type of reminder, the flow can guide users through options such as race weeks, days, reminder times, advance notice, and final confirmation.

Reminder flow improvements include:

• Step-by-step reminder creation
• Clearer week and day selection
• Better time selection
• Advance notice options
• Final review before confirmation
• Improved handling for series and league reminders
• Better visual feedback during the flow

Improved League Experience

iRacing Companion App 3.0 also features a UI and UX refresh in the Leagues section. This update improves the way league information is presented and makes the Leagues experience feel more consistent with the rest of the app. For Companion App 3.0, the focus is on presentation, usability, and consistency, while broader League management improvements remain an area we would like to continue exploring in the future.

Leagues also benefit from the redesigned reminders flow. League reminders were already supported, but they now fit into the improved Add Reminders experience, making the flow easier to understand and more consistent with the rest of the app.

League improvements include:

• Refreshed League UI
• Improved League UX
• More consistent presentation with the rest of the app
• League favorites synchronized with iRacing
• League reminders integrated into the improved reminders flow

Series Details: Better Weather, Better Standings, Better Navigation

Series Details has received several important improvements in iRacing Companion App 3.0.

One of the biggest additions is the full Weather V2 display, matching the same weather information shown in the iRacing UI. This gives users a more complete and familiar view of race conditions directly from the Companion App.

We’ve also added more detailed race information for series and cars with specific restrictions. When available, users can now see details such as fuel limits, tire change limits, and Balance of Performance information directly from the Series Details screen.

The standings experience has also been redesigned to make results easier to read and understand. Standings now better highlight important drivers, including yourself, your friends, and drivers you follow.

Smarter Week Selector

The Series screen has also been improved with a smarter week selector based on the iRacing season calendar.

Previously, week selection was based mainly on the week number. In Companion App 3.0, the week selector is date-based and uses the iRacing season schedule. When you select a week, the app shows all available series for that iRacing race week, based on the actual date range for that week.

This also improves support for series that do not follow the standard iRacing season format. For example, if a series has a calendar-year schedule and is active during the selected iRacing race week, it can still appear in the list. When that happens, the app shows the series-specific week number next to the track, making it clear which week that series is currently running. This makes browsing series more accurate, especially when different series calendars do not line up perfectly with the standard iRacing season structure.

Series Details improvements include:

• Full Weather V2 display matching iRacing UI
• Additional race restriction details, including fuel limits, tire change limits, and Balance of Performance information when available
• Redesigned standings layout
• Easier-to-read standings data
• Highlights for yourself, friends, and followed drivers
• Smarter date-based week selection
• Better support for non-standard series schedules
• Series-specific week numbers shown when needed
• Improved week navigation
• Better series search and filtering
• Favorite series synchronized with iRacing UI

Much More Powerful Filters

Filtering has been improved across many areas of iRacing Companion App 3.0. This update introduces more complete filtering options, making it easier to find the content, sessions, series, cars, tracks, and events you care about. The filters are also more consistent between screens, giving users a more predictable experience as they move through the app.

Improved filters are available across areas such as:

• Series
• Upcoming Races
• Leagues
• Hosted Sessions
• Time Attack
• Cars
• Tracks

These new and improved filters make it easier to narrow down large lists and quickly find relevant content.

Event Results and Racing Data Improvements

iRacing Companion App 3.0 also improves how racing data is presented throughout the app. Event Results have been redesigned to make session information clearer and easier to navigate. Users can more easily move between session data, review results, and drill into more detailed information. Across racing-related screens, the goal is to make data more readable, more useful, and more consistent with the rest of the iRacing experience.

Racing data improvements include:

• Redesigned Event Results screen
• Clearer session information
• Better handling of split information
• Improved results layouts
• More consistent presentation of racing data

Friends and Followed Drivers

With this update, we have improved how iRacing social data is handled in the app. Friends, followed drivers, and pending friend requests are now synchronized with iRacing, helping the Companion App stay aligned with the iRacing UI. Users can also manage social actions from the app, including sending friend requests, accepting or rejecting pending requests, and following or unfollowing drivers.

News and Content Improvements

The News experience has also received improvements in iRacing Companion App 3.0. Story rendering has been improved with better support for richer content inside news articles. This includes new components for content such as standings or calendars, as well as improved image visualization with support for zooming and moving images. These changes help make news stories, development updates, and other iRacing content feel better suited to the mobile experience.

Bug Fixes and Quality Improvements

Alongside the larger updates, iRacing Companion App 3.0 includes many bug fixes and smaller quality improvements. These fixes help improve the overall stability and polish of the app across iOS and Android.

What’s Next

iRacing Companion App 3.0 is now available on iOS and Android. This release gives us a stronger foundation to continue improving the Companion App and making it feel more connected to the wider iRacing experience.

The legacy 2.x versions will continue to function as usual, but we plan to sunset them by the Season 1, 2027 build. Update now!
