2025 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup | Race Preview: Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello
February 7th, 2025 by Justin Melillo
The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup continues on Saturday with the second race of the 2025 season at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello. 30 of the best sim racers in the world are looking for their share of this season’s $200,000 purse, and this venue will be a new challenge to all as Mugello joins for the first time in 2025.
Live streaming of the events will begin on Saturday at 18:00 GMT (1PM ET) via Porsche’s channels on YouTube and Twitch with the return of the Porsche All-Star series. The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup pro drivers will take off one hour afterwards, at 19:00 GMT (2PM ET).
Last Race:
One week ago, the 2025 season kicked off with a wild one at Daytona International Speedway. Florian Lebigre, in his first career Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup start, scored the pole position and led every lap to win the opening Sprint event. After the invert, another first-timer in Elvis Rankin led the field to the green and led the majority of the laps. On the final one, however, Cooper Webster was able to get by at the line to steal the victory by a nose.
Last Season:
The second race of the year in 2024 took to Hockenheim where the would-be champion that season, Sebastian Job, put the field on notice. Job scored the pole, won the Sprint, and even after the invert to eighth, rallied back to take the Feature victory and maximum points, a crucial moment for the overall season.
Track Facts:
After half a century’s worth of events on public roads were brought to an abrupt halt in 1970, Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello was constructed in 1973 and opened a year later to bring premier racing events back to the area. It quickly became host to major sports car events, lower-level open-wheel series, and grand prix motorcycle racing, for which it has hosted the Italian motorcycle Grand Prix for the past 30 years.
Mugello features two layouts: its 3.259-mile, 15-turn Grand Prix layout, and a 1.4-mile Short configuration. Both start with its lengthy front straightaway and go into the 180-degree San Donato right-hander before heading into Luco and Poggio Secco. The track has been owned by Scuderia Ferrari since 1988, which uses it for both testing and the Ferrari Challenge Finali Mondiali; the Tuscan Grand Prix in 2020 marked its 1000th Grand Prix event.
All Stars:
The PESC All-Stars are back in 2025 with one of the biggest star-studded lineups in series history. eNASCAR champion Casey Kirwan was victorious in the 2024 PESC All-Stars championship, winning his second title in a row, this time over Pablo “Pulpo” Lopez. Kirwan, Lopez, and other champions such as Emree and Quirkitized return in 2025, with many real world drivers taking part on occasion, such as Tony Kanaan and perhaps a few other surprises throughout the season.
Last week, Kirwan opened the season with another win, then finished second after the invert to Basic Ollie. This week, the All Stars will take on Mugello in a different vehicle, the Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Next Up:
After Mugello, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup and the All-Stars will travel over to Belgium for the third race of the season at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The Spa events are scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, and will be live starting at 18:00 GMT (1PM ET) via Porsche’s channels on YouTube and Twitch with All-Stars on tap first. The Supercup races will take off one hour afterwards, at 19:00 GMT (2PM ET).
