Week Ten at Talladega Superspeedway had all the ingredients necessary to make this week one to remember. This was a record breaking week as the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (fixed and open setup) Strength of Field record was broken, most championship points earned in a single race in the NiCCS (fixed and open setup), and the SoF was also the third highest one in iRacing history. The 2.66-mile superspeedway played host to nearly 2,500 sim racers trying to break into the record books during the week, but once again it was someone who is no stranger to adding his name to those books who took the checkered flag first in this week’s 6126 SoF.

Ray Alfalla (Florida) is once again the man in victory lane after crossing the stripe under caution. After a late race accident involving much of the field happened, many new faces emerged out of the carnage to make up the top five. Chad Coleman (Georgia) finished in the second position after leading two laps. Adam Gilliland (Texas) finished third, followed by Bryan Blackford (Florida) in fourth, and rounding out the top five was NASCAR Nationwide Series regular Timmy Hill (Atlantic).

With the victory in the week’s high SoF, Alfalla earned an incredible 387 championship points which put him up into the top position in the overall standings. Coleman’s second place run netted him 366 points for his efforts. The third place man Gilliland finished off the week with 332 points. Michael Guest (Indiana) ended a successful week in the fourth position and completing the top five is Blackford who earned 325 points.

Qualifying at superspeedway tracks is notoriously very close among the top drivers, but this week is a little different. Some drivers chose to use a trick that other members did not use, and in turn, it allowed them to turn faster qualifying laps compared to their competitors. Rodney Kramer (Midwest) was the top qualifier for the week, turning in a time of 51.821 seconds. Second place went to James Sprouse (Carolina) with a final time of 51.855 seconds. James Hatch (West) holds down the final spot on the podium with a time of 51.871 seconds. Plains club member Michael Whitehead2 finished off Week Ten in the fourth position with a time of 51.890 seconds. Travis Braden’s time of 51.902 seconds was good enough for the final position in the top five.

After several extremely successful weeks, Alfalla now holds a 168 point lead over Byron Daley (New York). Josh Berry (Mid-South) sits in the third position, 288 points back. Blackford’s recent success has propelled him up the standings into the fourth position, 404 points behind Alfalla. Jordan Hightower (Mid-South) has been relegated to the fifth position after the past few weeks have been unsuccessful.
