Sai Andra captured the opening round of the Wednesday evening iRacing.com Skip Barber Race Series at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, passing pole-winner and early leader Greg Seitz on Lap 10 and holding the lead through to the finish. Seitz did not make it easy on Andra, snapping at his rival sim racer’s heels for the remaining five laps and coming home just .110s behind the winner.
Jeff Tyler rounded-out the podium finishers an additional two seconds behind Seitz while Joseph Barton-Harris clawed his way from 13th on the grid to a fourth place finish ahead of Christian Cabangca, with Karl Drake, Alex Saunders, Jon Sully, Ben Furhoff and Djawad Karoni completing the top 10.
Fourth fastest qualifier Johnny Guindi set the fastest lap of the race (1:34.297) en route to a 15th place finish after an incident on the second lap dropped him to the tail-end of the field.
Round Two of the series heads Down Under to Bathurst, Australia and the demanding Mt. Panorama Circuit. Be sure and catch all the sim racing action tonight at 8:15 p.m. on iRacing Live.
