The iRacing.com Street Stock Series got back to its roots during Week Five as the sim racers hit the track for some old school beatin’ and bangin’.  Lanier National Speedway was the host for the week and is a favorite among drivers.  Lanier National Speedway is a 0.375-mile paved oval located in Braselton, Georgia.  The track opened in 1982 as a dirt track, and was later paved a few years later.

Jeff Dillon (Atlantic Club) was the top championship point earner for Week Five.  Dillon’s week consisted of two starts and two wins.  Dakota Lowery (Northwest Club) finished-out the week second in points, just a mere four behind Dillon, while Tucker Wingo (Mid-South Club) completed the podium for Week Five with a third place finish.  Doug Lierle (California Club) and Kevin Thomas (Mid-South Club) round-out the top five for Week Five at Lanier.

The iRacing.com Street Stock Series returned to its roots last week.

Nick Ottinger (Carolina Club) is a familiar face in the Street Stock Series as he once again leads the overall championship point standings heading-out of Week Five.  Alastair Topley (England Club) is currently second overall, trailing Ottinger by 144 points.  Kyle Hayden (Michigan Club) currently sits third in overall points, trailing by 184.  Pennsylvania’s Jason Robinson and Mid-South Club member Kevin Thomas round-out the top five.

Ottinger once again was on top of the qualifying chart turning in a time of 15.815 seconds.  His closest competitor was Stevie Minson (Virginias Club) who turned in a time of 15.861 seconds with Frederick Ottinger2 (Carolina Club), Jeff Bye Jr (California Club) and Travis Hoerman (Midwest Club) completing Week Five’s fast five in qualifiers.

We might have to rename the Street Stock Series to the Nick Ottinger Series because once again he is on top of the charts in another statistical category.  The weekly time trial standings have Ottinger on top turning in the fastest 10-lap average of 15.938 seconds.  Frederick Ottinger2 was second overall for the week with a 10-lap average of 15.982 seconds.  Jason Robinson, Devin Shorter (Virginias Club) and Jeremy Frye (New England Club) round out the top five for the weekly time trial.

Lanier National Speedway is a popular venue for the iRacing.com Street Stock Series regulars.

Ottinger is currently on top of the season time trial standings as well, with 498 championship points.  Robinson has a nine point deficient to overcome heading into Week Six.  Remi Perreault (Eastern Canada Club), Eddie George (Midwest Club) and Greg Hooks (Virginias Club) complete the top five.

Tune in next week as the iRacing.com Street Stock Series heads back to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for some good short track racing as the top short track sim racers in the world try to tackle the legends oval.  And as always, please check out www.iracing.com for great promotions and to see how you can join the biggest online racing community in the world.
