Last week the NASCAR iRacing Series drafted in to the sunny beaches of Daytona Beach Florida for a packed weekend of racing under the lights at the Daytona Superspeedway. Coming into the week the series driver where ready to let the sparks fly and Tyler D Hudson has a 654 points lead over 2nd place Landon Harrison and 3rd place Kyle McCormick. Jeremy Lukaszka picked up his 2nd pole in as many weeks as he started on the pole in race 1 on Thursday night and Seth DeMerchant would start from the 2nd spot. Lukaszka and DeMerchant looked strong at the started working as a team pushing back and forth fighting to keep their self’s in the lead draft. They spent the first half of the race battling with the No. 8 and 9 of Justin Bolton and Brandon Chubirko. Around lap 60 the race changed for one of them as Lukaszka slammed the wall of the bumper of DeMerchant that ended the pole sitter’s day with about 20 laps to go. After that Bolton and Chubirko had smooth sailing all the way to the end with Chubirko edge in   out Justin Fuller you grabbed 2nd at the line Bolton came home 3rd and Brian V Macklin edged out Seth DeMerchant where they rounded out the top five. Landon Harrison did race in race one and Hudson did not Harrison come home in 13th trimming Hudson’s lead to 470 points after race 1.

Saturday there where two races held for the drivers in the NASCAR iRacing Series under the lights at Daytona Superspeedway. At the start of race 1 on Saturday Logan Sheets found out he was looking good after picking up the pole Seth DeMerchant would start on the outside front row beside him. Randy North looked to be the lead horse in the race all race long leading 29 of 80 laps in the race but things did not go his way at the end. As Allen Boes worked his way all the way up from a 19th starting spot to take the win and lead 17 laps. Noontime marked the start of race 3 of the week at Daytona and Jeremy Lukaszka found his self-sitting on the pole for the second time in two races with Brian V Macklin starting on his outside. They wasted no time working together as they were the cream of the crop in race 3 leading most of the race until. Lap 55 when Jeremy made contact with the 14 of  Rick Savage giving him heavy damage to his car and he would finish in 9th. With about 3 laps to go Brian found out he would not win as well after making contact racing for the lead he ended up finishing 14th. When the checkered flew  Bill Brown was able to push Wes Hoag to the win with bill finishing in 2nd the race ended under the yellow flag with Dylan Murcott, Jason Gould, Matt Spangler finishing 3rd 4th and 5th. Points leader Tyler D Hudson did not have a good day at Daytona on Saturday where crashed on lap 8 taking a hard hit with the inside wall and he did not finish the race and ended up in the 24th spot. After the race I interviewed Jeremy Lukaszka  this is what he said.

Q: How do you feel about your season so far in the NASCAR iRacing Series? A: My season so far has been incredible. Everything has gone much better than expected. I’m running much better than I even expected myself to, and if I was running the full season, I think those top drivers in points would need to watch out. I think other drivers are even surprised at how well I’ve been running. This season has me extremely excited for next year and even class A next season. Obviously I can be competitive in this car with a fixed setup, but next season I’m going to see if I can be competitive in it with an open setup and hopefully earn my pro license.

Q: In the last two weeks you’ve claimed three poles. How do you feel about that? A: The poles are great, for about five minutes. What I’m chasing after is wins!

Q: What do you think are some things you need to work on for upcoming races? A: I honestly don’t know. I obviously could still use a little work with my driving technique since I’m usually not the fastest guy on the track, but I know that if I just keep driving the way I am now that a couple wins will come before the end of 2013.

Q: Is there any people out there who help you be fast week-in and week-out that you would like to thank? A: Nope! Just me!
