Week Three of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (open setup) took the online racers to the Homestead-Miami Speedway for some high speed, side-by-side racing at one of the trickiest tracks on the NASCAR circuit. While this track may be tricky for some, it proved to be no challenge for a name frequently seen gracing the pages of inRacingNews.com.

1,020 sim racers attempted to tackle the 1.5-mile progressively banked speedway in search of victory in the week’s highest Strength of Field race. During the 3345 SoF, Ohio native Kenny Humpe made a late race pass to take the victory by 0.611 seconds over second place Edward Szigeti (New Jersey), who paced the field for 61 of the race’s 90 laps. Third place went to Chris Mathis (Mid-South) who finished 0.646 seconds behind race winner Humpe. Fourth place went to Robert Bearss (Michigan) and rounding out the top five was Paulo Van Der Velden (Benelux).

By taking the victory in the week’s highest Strength of Field race, Humpe earned the most championship points at Homestead, adding 202 to his season total. Second place in the SoF race netted 197 points for Szigeti, good for P2 in the week’s standings. Justin Brooks (Carolina) ended the week in the third position, also earning 197 championship points. Kollin Keister (Atlantic) finished in the fourth position with 190 points and filling out the top five was  Chris Mathis.

Humpe came out on top of more than 1000 sim-racers at Homestead.

On top of having a great showing in the weekly standings, Brooks also had an excellent qualifying effort on the week.  His time of 31.556 seconds placed him in position one out of 311 online racers who attempted to qualify during Week Three. Australian sim racer Ray Schroder finished-off the week in the second position with a time of 31.604 seconds. Keith Elliott (Western Canada) ended the week in the third position while Arthur Lucas (Virginias) and Gary Fridinger (Pennsylvania) finished in the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

By earning the most points during the week, Humpe stretched his lead in the season standings to 64 over Phil Brown (Mid-South). Corey A Wolf (New York) currently holds down the third position (-67). Kollin Keister ends Week Three 69 points back in the fourth position and rounding out the top five is Keith Elliott (-77).
