Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup Race Preview: Monza

It’s time to crown the 2023 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup champion, and that can only mean one thing: a visit to Autodromo Nazionale Monza for the season finale. Live streaming of the iRacing series for top esports pros will kick off on Saturday at 19:00 GMT (3PM ET) via Porsche’s channels on YouTube and Twitch, while the All-Star series will directly precede it at 18:00 GMT (2PM ET).

Last Race: The Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans always puts on some of the most exciting shows of the PESC season, and this year’s visit to the French countryside was no different. When all was said and done, teammates Yohann Harth and Alejandro Sanchez, mainstays of the series for years, crossed the line 1-2 while separated by just .180 seconds. Former series champions Diogo Pinto and Sebastian Job earned the TAG Heuer Pole Award and sprint race victory, respectively.

A late-race crash for Caruso that relegated him to 25^th in the feature kept the door open for multiple drivers to challenge him for the title with one event remaining. While the Australian remains the points leader with 464, Job’s 428, Zac Campbell’s 427, and Sanchez’s 406 all have them mathematically in contention to steal the title if something similar happens in Monza. Charlie Collins and Pinto are separated by five points in the battle for the final spot in the top five.

Last Season: Collins took the sprint and Job earned the feature in last year’s visit to Monza, while Pinto secured the series championship with consistent finishes of seventh and sixth on the day to total 19 top-10 finishes across the 20 sprint and feature races on the year. Job, to his credit, pulled to within 19 points of Pinto at season’s end, using his third feature victory of the year at Monza to complete a comeback that took him from outside the top 10 in series points to second overall at year end.

Track Facts: For more than a century, Autodromo Nazionale Monza has hosted major national and international racing events as the oldest purpose-built racing circuit in Europe. The Italian road course currently features a 3.6-mile, 11-turn primary layout, having added multiple chicanes to some of its long straightaways over the years to keep speeds safe. Monza has hosted almost every Italian Grand Prix since 1949, with 1980 the lone exception.
